Sad story, brother sent me a text and told me about it. Have to get up at 5am but had to check it out. This just sucks, for the fans, for his friends, but especially for his family. Words can't begin to describe how absolutely miserable they must be feeling.

Having worked in the medical field for many years has never hardened my heart against death. To see someone so young, with so much to live for, pass away always kinda hits home. Having lost a family member recently makes me feel for his family and my heart and prayers go out to this young man's family. I wish them the best.
He just joined God's team in the sky.

I don't have anything off the top of my head, but something has to be done. We had a similar situation happen 2 years ago with my fraternity in college. We lost one of our own in an accident, and he was also a football player, so we planned for our entire fraternity to run with the game ball starting at city hall in philly to our campus, run a lap around the track with the team, and present the game ball (and a check with money from the fundraiser) to his family at midfield before the coin toss for the football game.

Something has to be done for the family and for the kid's memory...that's my point.

The captain of my football team in high school died to alcohol poisoning in his first week of college...transitioning from the relatively sheltered world of high school to the freedom of college can be dangerous, and its usually the natural leaders who take things too far. This is a tragedy and I hope all of his family and friends can find some solace in their memories of Matt, who was by all accounts an exceptional young man.
