Still a regional guy low on the radar but shining brighter. Vannett had a couple of MAC offers, bottom half/ mid Big 10,nearby SEC and Big East, then he got an offer from the Buckeyes.

Westerville Tight End Weighing Ohio State Offer

Bill Kurelic

I would say my top two would be <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 /><ST1:pLACENAME w:st="on">Ohio</ST1:pLACENAME> <ST1:pLACETYPE w:st="on">State</ST1:pLACETYPE> and <ST1:STATE w:st="on">Wisconsin</ST1:STATE>, but <ST1:STATE w:st="on"><ST1:pLACE w:st="on">Wisconsin</ST1:pLACE></ST1:STATE> hasn’t offered yet. <ST1:CITY w:st="on"><ST1:pLACE w:st="on">Bowling Green</ST1:pLACE></ST1:CITY> would be in there too.

Wisconsin offered around the date of this article.

Nick Vannett's leaders:
I would say that my favorites to this point are Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Notre Dame and then I don't really have a fifth one. I'd say that's my primary choices right now, until I actually go on visits to see what more places have to offer.

ND is the only favorite that hasn't offered. Vanett wil be at ND's Jr Day looking for that offer.

What he's looking for in a school:
I would say the type of offense they run, and also the coaches that are coaching me and how they interact with the players. I'd rather have an encouraging type of a guy, than a yell down your throat type of a guy. I plan on waiting it out and taking some official visits to make sure it's the right decision in the end.

Per ISD, really wanted to make it to Jr. Day, but because of a family commitment he couldn't make it, which he's really disappointed about. But he talked to the staff and will make it out for a spring practice...

Vannett Lands Fighting Irish Offer

Vannett Lands Fighting Irish Offer

Scout.com: Vannett Lands Fighting Irish Offer

Westerville (OH) Central's Nick Vannett has continued to add offers, and Wednesday he got some more good news when he learned Notre Dame was extending an offer. Vannett, one of the top tight end prospects in the Midwest, is planning to visit South Bend this coming weekend, to check out the Fighting Irish.

Vannett High on ND
by Steve Hare
411/10

Notre Dame has offers out to a handful of tight ends and on Friday the Irish nearly snagged a commitment from one of them. Nick Vannett took in Notre Dame's spring practice and the 6-foot-6, 230-pounder from Westerville, Ohio said he thought about committing during the trip. Vannett wants to hold off on his decision, although he might be back in South Bend soon.

Nick Vannett had planned to go to the Notre Dame spring game. Then he heard that the Buckeyes were going to feature the tight end in their spring game, so he changed his plans.

Funny how it was supposed to be the severe weather in the Midwest that was keeping Vannett from travelling to South Bend for the B&G game.

Apparently the 23 yds TD pass Pryor threw to OSU's TE Stoneburner has BuckeyeNation agog that Tressel has gone TE wild.

Stoneburner caught 2 last year. (NO, not TD passes, just passes.) Stoneburner's almost matched his season total for last year. An impressive display of TE firepower by Tressel and the Buckeyes.

Supposedly OSU now leads for Vannett. (Meanwhile Koyack was at ND watching Ragone and Rudolph catching a season's worth of OSU TE receptions in little more than a half. ND TE's caught 12 balls in the B&G game. OSU TEs had 16 in 13 games in '09.

Per Kurelic, Vannett will announce soon for OSU as expected.

Koyack filled ND's need at TE.

Buckeyes snare touted 4-star TE Nick Vannett

Bill Hodge On The Trail

Rated No. 8 among tight end prospects in the nation by ESPNU, Nick Vannett of Central (Westerville, Ohio) has announced his Class of 2011 college choice for Ohio State.
Vannett (6-foot-5, 230-pounds) has over 30 offers including Penn State, Wisconsin, Oregon, Michigan State, Michigan, Iowa, Purdue, Pitt, Illinois, Minnesota, Indiana, South Florida, Virginia Tech, Arizona, West Virginia, Boston College, Syracuse, Duke, Northwestern and Kentucky. He had 20 receptions for 240 yards and two touchdowns as a junior.

Will he ever have 20 catches in a year again?
