great game.... blows me away how people bash something just becasue it's envouge to do so... there is really no other reason than that when it comes to hockey...

I love baseball, soccer and football but the most exciting sport to watch by far is hockey... Olympic hockey to me may be the best sporting event in the world... i love it.

today is unreal... my boyhood hero Jagr gets blown up along with his national team, USA beats Canada in a thriller that mirrors the miracle on ice in more ways than one, and now we get Sweden V Finland??

seriously????

today is better than the super bowl

How about Malkin yesterday, guy was unreal! Can we see more of that after the break? He has been playing better lately, 13 game point streak, but he elevated his game yesterday.

Ever tried spades?

Yep. Poker, Gin, Euchre, Pinochle, Hearts, Cribbage and many more. Like many others I started with War, Old Maids, Go Fish, Crazy Eights - gateway card games.
I was easy prey for the Bridge addicts and dealers in the dorm. At first I just sat and observed. Then I was invited to "play a quick rubber." I "Just Said No" and continued to enjoy the company and idle banter as a respite. For a while.
One night I was told to "sit East, bid and play or bugger off." I decided to give it a try. What harm could it do? It was the Woodstock Effect, the "try anything once" days. Soon I was seeking out games between classes. I was reading theBridge column in the South Bend Tribune. I even subscribed to the Chicago Tribune since they carried a Bridge column by a different author. I became familiar with the Stayman and Blackwood Conventions and experimented with some Exotic Conventions. I even dabbled in Duplicate Bridge!
I got clean after graduation when separated from my suppliers. Until, that is, I came across a 1950's "kit," complete with two decks of cards, a score pad and a mechanical pencil amid my parents' "stash" while packing up and winnowing when they decided to sell their house in 1995 to move to a smaller place. My twin sister asked "what's that" and I deflected, distracted and protected her with a deceptive "just some decks of playing cards."
Yes, I've fallen into playing bridge once again, but I've got it under control. I'm a functioning bidder.
