Thats a bit uncalled for. He's going to Boise St. End of story. It doesn't matter why or what will happen during his time there.

I didn't go that far.. I wouldn't of chosen a school because of a girlfriend. My girlfriend wouldn't done the same for me. Actually she puts herself first, kinda selfish if you ask me. If I'm part her agenda that day, she might get around to me but more than likely she won't.

I just find it dumb to pick a school because your high school sweetheart is going to it.

That was a special first post.

The coaches thought he was tough enough. They offered.

Coaches may have thought he was tough enough but they may have been wrong, but coaches may sometimes be wrong. I come from a state that produced Ryan Lief and all the coaches thought he was great but look at the out come. To go to a school that is not outstanding as ND and have to pay for it when not only could he have gotten a fantastic education if football didn't produce a career all for an 18 year old girl doesn't even make any logical sense.

if he did in fact choose boise because his girlfriend is going there, i have a different opinion of the young man but even less respect for the parents.

neither of which even matter. just throwin it out there

get hyped about next year and talk about how many '10 recruits are gonna regret not joining up when they had chance

Can't control that....

We go to battle with what we have. Not much good in reliving who didn't commit to us seeing as they aren't here. We roll with who we got.....and quite frankly, I think we did ok considering the circumstances.

Damn we still need safeties (no offense to Badger). Now we gotta put the full court press on Lyons

Who knows.....maybe Hayseed comes out of his haze and becomes the safety he was intended to be.... As hard as it is for me to say, maybe it was coaching under the previous regime. I'd love to see it.

Definitely coaching the past year. He was an All-Star HS Safety. Came in and played early at a different position, a difficult position. He got moved back "home" to Safety and looke like he had neer played the position before which could also be said for some of his fellow DBs. With new guidance he may regain his old form but if so it would only be a short term solution.

Meanwhile we'll see what kind of magic Martin can work with Collinsworth and Badger.

Wow, where to begin.

Yes, the coaches may sometimse be wrong their projecting how a 17 year old will play 4 or 5 years down the road. Most pro coaches don't have great record on NFL Draft Day and they 4 or 5 years of additional game film and testing at their disposal. But college or pro I suspect they made their decision to offer based upon personal evalution with a trained eye unlike your jumping to a conclusion based on an internet board comment.

Considering the paucity of talent that Montana has provided I should think you'd know his name was spelled Leaf not Lief. He was great in Montana where he won a State Title. He was pretty good at Wazzou too. He was a Heisman Finalist. He set the PAC 10 TD record. He won a PAC 10 Conference Championship and took his team to the Rose Bowl for the first time in 6 or 7 decades. His problems arose at the next level with owners, teammates, injuries, and eventually the law.

There is no correlation between Ioane and Leaf.

His going to BSU as a grayshirt doesn't mean he has to pay his way for 4 years. Grayshirt pay the first semester and then go on scholarship as there is room on the 85 man roster from those completing their eligibility. He'll get a ride for the next 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 years of eligibility.

Every year some recruit comments that he made his decision based upon the helmets, weight room, night life, coeds, weather, easy grading/cake coursework (they usually don't mention this one aloud), a chance to play for the conference title, a chance to be on TV, play in "The Shoe", "The Big House", "Death Valley", "The Swamp", or pet Howard's Rock, etc, etc.

Why shouldn't a girl friend be a consideration. It was the reason McCoy didn't go to ND.

Tough situation. Best wishes for a successful transplant.

Had he come to ND, Longo would be getting blamed for this too.

Are we sure we can rule out Longo here? I mean, it seems like the guy's MO.
