Dave Elson hired by Brian Kelly???

Notre Dame: Sources tell FootballCoachScoop that Head Coach Brian Kelly has added former Western Kentucky Head Coach Dave Elson to its staff.

Keep in mind it's FootballCoachScoop.com and subject to change with the next breeze.

I'm assuming this isn't simply a mistake in similar names with Mike Elston being hired two week ago. At the same time the only vacancies on Kelly's staff are GAs or office staff. He's got a full complement of assistant coaches.

FYI

David Elson was the Head Coach at Western Kentucky for the past 7 years and was fired this year in season while taking WKU through the transition to Div 1. He's a native of Indiannapolis, went to Cathedral HS and then Butler. He worked at So. Illinois as a GA. Then as an assistant at WKU for 6 years before becoming HC.

please god dont let this be true.
i went to WKU for 3 years...and you guys have no idea how bad of a coach he is.
yes his last 3 years were in a d.1 transition, but that doesnt even show how bad he is.
if this is true...please dont him be more than a grad asst.lol.
omg im scared.

Just because he was a bad head coach doesn't mean he's going to have a negative impact on the team as an assistant.

but i have first hand knowledge of his imcompetence.

I know nothing about this guy, but it is hard to see exactly what he brings to the table here.

It has to be another mistake by that worthless website. There is simply no room on the staff. They probably got the names mixed up and whiffed....yet again...

were perplexed with the report as well. One of them quoted one of Irish4Life09 posts.

The last poster in the tread noted that Jason Stamm had discounted the report. Stamm is the Editor of InsideHilltopper.com. The poster didn't provide any link and I didn't find one on google.

I'm closing this thread down. If something turns up warranting re-opening, I'll do so.
