I don't care for Pete Carroll either, but he can coach, at least in college.

But if you can't beat him because he leaves for the NFL, it would still give me great pleasure to kick USC's ass no matter who the coach is.

ESPN is reporting he is trying to talk his offensive coordinator at USC to leave with him. Mortenson reporting he would be shocked if Carroll isnt announced as the new Seahawks coach by early next week.

This is great news for Notre Dame recruit-wise if he leaves. Prater, Henderson, Dietrich Riley....and the list goes on.

Was just talking on the phone with my dad about that same topic and we came to the same conclusion. Time to bail when the going gets a little tough for you to handle. yeah ditto! I want to beat HIM not just USC. If we beat USC this year it'll be "oh well of course ND beat USC..they don't have pete" so it takes away our glory.
Maybe thats why hes leaving. He knows we now with Kelly have a very good chance to beat him and he wants out before that happens. I don't think USC under Pete has ever been beat by ND is that true?

While I do agree with you guys wanting to beat him and beat SC at their best, I will say that I could give a rat's ass if they say that we only won b/c Carroll was gone. Boo friggin hoo. You know how many times they beat Holtz??? ZERO. Do we sit around saying that they only beat us because we don't have Holtz? Nope, they just rub it in our faces that we can't beat them, and we always have to wait until next year.

Well, I want to be able to do the same damn thing to them, like we did in the glory years. And after we beat their asses next year, and they say that we couldn't beat Carroll, I'll laugh and jump right back at them and say that they couldn't beat Holtz, and they sure as hell can't beat Kelly. Uck SC with a capital F...

This has got to be the best situation for a first time Irish coach in a while though right? From the different problems at USC, Florida, and Michigan, with the mediocrity surrounding the Mich. St, BC and Purdue programs, this creates not only a great opportunity for BK on the recruiting grounds but gives him a great leg up in his start against longtime rivals and other benchmark programs.
