This past decade we have seen some of the best WR to ever put on a Notre Dame uniform. This isnt like the past two threads, there is real competition this time.

Arnaz Battle in 3 years (1 year as a true WR)
Played QB and WR and played in a system that mostly did not caterto the pass

58 Rec
786 Yd's
5 TD's

Jeff Samardzija in 4 years

179 Rec
2593 Yd's
27 TD's

Maurice Stovall in 4 years

130 Rec
2195 Yd's
18 TD's

Rhema McKnight in 4 years

170 Rec
2277 Yd's
22 TD's

Golden Tate

157 Rec
2707 Yd's
26 TD's

Michael Floyd

92 Rec
1514 Yd's
16 TD's

I think Tate now but Floyd will have better numbers before his career at ND is over.

Floyd will be the best ND will have ever had and will be the best pro since Tim Brown.

Twice we've had this list and I think in both cases the 2 players I think will eventually be the best havent had a full career yet in Armando Allen and Michael Floyd.

I voted for the Shark just b/c he was a personal favorite, but I acknowledge Tate's probably had the better career.

And Floyd could have all the records by the time he's done. (if he can stay healthy!)

I voted for Samardzija.

He's probably not the best on your list, but it was enjoyable watching him. He made the most improbable catches probable. And he did it all with flair and precision.

I voted for Maurice. All are great choices Jason, but Tate caught passes that allowed him to run after the catch. Seems to me Stovall spent a career less receiver friendly and he always had to stop and make spectacular catches. I also liked his personna mo betta than others.

But I was often washing dishes while watching his game. I may have missed something.

Are you taking the top two vote getters? That would make the most sense if you're doing an all-decade team. What's a team without 2 recievers?

i said the shark, purely because he was able to do what he did after basically forgotten his first years there, all the while playing baseball. granted i know tate also plays baseball but it shows you that he was a pure talent if he could have went first round in either sport. he just didn't get drafted first round because the baseball teams were worried about him playing football instead.

i went with tate. That hail mary catch against wsu and that play against stanford when he ran all the way across the field did it for me

Tate! Tate! Tate the Great! That WSU catch and the end of the first half was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen on the football field.

Floyd is without a doubt, the most polished, ready to go out of the box receiver we've ever had. That and the guy sells out for every ball thrown his way.

Next year I think he'll really shine in our new offense, and make us all sign a petition begging him not to go pro.

You aren't really suggesting that Armando Allen will be better than the likes of Pinkett and Bettis, are you?

How the hell do you know he won't?

Did you ever watch Bettis play?

I've been a big fan of Allen's improvement, this year. But Bettis, almost from his first start, was big enough to run over probably half of the defensive linemen he played against, while still being fast enough to outrun probably half of the defensive backs he played against. Bettis was a great blocker, a pretty good receiver out of the backfield, and an all around monster of a runner.

Trust me, I hope Allen proves me wrong. But, as yet, he hasn't shown anything even approaching Bettis' play.

I'll ask again. How the hell do you know he won't...Kreskin? I simply love all of you internet crystal ball gazers. Ya'll can see the future....and are able to pidgeon-hole every player on our roster.

Laughable.

But please....carry on.

Oh, and yes. I watched Bettis play. Didn't want you to think I passed over your question.

To tough of a call between Samardzija and tate, but i went with Samardzija because he stayed for 4 years. If tate had come back i probably would have gone with him

Wow. Just WOW.
He will not be as good as Bettis was, because he's not a Bettis type player.
If he were, he would be able to break a tackle by his third year and get a run over what...21 yards?
WOW you cant even mention his name with Bettis. Moderator or not.

I think AA has been sold short by many posters on here many times. Most comparisons seem to be "apple to orange" kinda stuff. I like his kamikaze style. Dude has some pecans on him. He seems to be doing what he has been asked to do. Exciting athlete, playing under a different system than Holtz's.

Golden Tate.

Just downright explosive. Blazing speed, great acceleration. Excellent route-running. Outstanding hands. And his open field ability was second to none.

Golden Tate, my favorite Notre Dame player ever. Michael Floyd is a better reciever though.
