Ty got fired for being lazy, he may have been done dirty in how he got fired but that was inevitable. Weis had his opportuinty, i still really like the guy and wish he could have got it done but after 5 years, it had to be done.

Kelly has mediocre defenses and a lackluster running game. I still dont see how this is an upgrade over Weis

most ppl attribute everything wrong with ND to Weis. They think the players are good enough to win, and all that was needed was the right coach. they pegged Kelly as the right coach. Most ppl, even the Weis haters, say that CW recruited well, so the ND cupboard is apparently well-stocked, and just in need of the right coach. that means Kelly gets NO honeymoon period. there is no faith with ND football as to its coaches, faith is measured in the win column. Kelly better win at least 7 games next season, and a BCS game within the next 2.

(apparently)All ND needs was the right coach......you(Kelly) will need to step in and win instantly. that is your task, as you have choose to accept it.

by the way, your going to have step up your recruiting game, you wont win at ND with GVS, central michigan, or cincy players at Notre Dame, please see Ty Willingham for reference.

The most important thing he needs to do is bring in a quality DC and assistants. The offense could almost run itself at this point with the talent on board. The defense, on the other hand, needs serious retooling and needs to learn the fundamentals of tackling.

I only have one comment and one hope. Its that the administration took a look at the athletes on the field and decided to let the new coach compete with equal to better ability. If they have done that this guy will win. If they have not done this the guy will fail to the standard that Notre Dame fans desire. You see this is a blooded veteran coach who knows how to do it with his formula, question is (to me) will Notre Dame let him. We will see-'Go Irish'

As it is sad that so many coaches do go under the microscope here, CW had plenty of chances. He was "upset" many times. Although I love the man CW, the coach had a tough time motivating players and ultimately, this was the deciding factor. The chosing of DC and OC is crucial also, not just for game-calling but for recruiting as wel

Yeah, I'm sure Clausen, Tate, Tebow, Ingram, Gerhart , et al all considered Cincy before settling for ND, Florida, etc, etc, etc.

Wonder why a coach at Cincy, or a MAC school, etc, etc, etc cannot compete against the elites from a recruiting standpoint? A mystery of the universe I guess.
