Golden Tate's meeting with Weis

Besides being overly impatient on our coaching search, I am curious as to what the status is on Tate and his decision to stay in school or enter the draft. He was supposed to meet with Weis yesterday, and I want to know if that happened and if anyone knows what was said between the two.

Just the usual, Weis probably talk to NFL scouts and said "this is probably where you be projected" with some other talk. I don't think Weis is vindictive and would push Tate to go the NFL over his firing at ND..

I think Tate will make a good decision no matter what. If he comes back he has a chance of being the best player in ND history and if he goes he will be a top 50 pick and make a lot of money.

I think regardless of if he stays another year or leaves now, he will be a late 1st rounder to mid 2nd round barring some huge slip or jump in stats. I have no idea if the rookie cap will really only effect the first 10-20 guys taken or what also. If he comes back, he along with Floyd and Rudolph need to live at Crist's house this summer to work on routes and timing.

I think it is good for us that neither Tate or clausen have announced anything yet.I think they're waiting to hear who the new coach will be,and that will be what makes or breaks their decisions.I think if we get a high profile guy like stoops or Meyer Tate and possibly clausen stay.

I figured Jimmy would wait until after ND made its bowl decision- to make an announcement. He didn't make it today so I suppose its a positive sign. Maybe he is waiting to see...one can HOPE right!

Which is exactly what happens if he goes to the NFL.. May even happen more tan once if he gets dropped and picked up by a different team.

I think he seriously would like to get his degree 1st. But, we will see..

With ND deciding not to go bowling, would it not make sense for Tate AND Clausen to announce their declarations to go pro before the new coach comes in? Perhaps this means there is a chance they would consider returning for the right coach...

Even a top 50 defense really makes next year's schedule look pretty manageable, provided all of the offensive skill players were to return.

i think there is a 0% chance of that. nothing terrifies a player more than sustaining a career threatening injury before they get their payday. the only reason to stay would be if their draft status looks so poor that they really need another year to upgrade it. that clearly is not an issue for clausen and most draft projection have tate going in the first round.

even if the new coach is one of their family members, tate and clausen are gone.

I think we will hear about the future of GT and JC either today or tommorrow.

I know JC is gone, but not too sure about Tate.
