We all probably have our own guy that we think would be a good hire for Notre Dame outside of the Head Coach names commonly mentioned for the job.
Im specifically talking about assistant coaches or some guys who are coaches at programs that aren't exactly with a high stock right now due to their teams success.
My OOLF Candidate that would be a good hire for Notre Dame:
David Reaves, QB coach for Tennessee.
Reaves is one of the brightest young football minds ironically discovered by Notre Dame legend Lou Holtz at South Carolina, its rare to find a coach given an assistant job as important as QB coach at 23 years old. Reaves coached up the QB's there for several years and survived the coaching change to Spurrier who then gave him the title of recruiting coordinator. Reaves' improvement in 1 year with Jonathan Crompton, who is now one of the better senior QB's in the country, along with his recruiting efforts at Tennessee is just a clear sign that this young man will one day be a great Head Coach. Reaves is college football's version of Josh Pastner, the young Memphis college basketball coach. We could build on a 30 year old guy like Reaves taking over and leading this team for 30 years or more.
