i believe that any coach brought would have to evaluate each area of the team my main concern is that we keep coach polian and ianello these 2 more than any body else has recruited for ND like nobody else has in ten years. also i would like to see verducci brought back because i think the o-line made huge improvement under his tutelage. just was wondering if any body else had any thoughts on this

I say bring back everyone, including Charlie Weis

It's officially over, please stop with the "keep CW" stuff. Move on.

That being said, I would love to keep Verducci, Polian, and Ianello. I feel they have all proven their worth, and you have to keep some recruiting momentum. I would like to give Hart another year since he's only been here 1 year, but with our D being the way it is, "hard to argue" keeping him.

I hope the Parmalee comes back. Not only is he a family friend but who can argue with the beast is Kyle Rudolph? If he had more passes thrown to him the TE's of been a much bigger factor... other than winning us the Purdue game.

So please bring Parmalee back

Not Powlus and possibly not verducci, if you want to be honest with yourselves you know that the offensive line can still not move people off the ball.

Powlus? Ehhhhh...maybe

I can't name one guy on the roster who he brought to ND

The only one I can think of which he got real lucky on is Deion Walker. Other than that I say get rid of him. I say keep Polian, Parmalee, Ianello, and Alford.

I have to believe that Bryant Young is good with the guys. I have no evidence of that, but I hope... He's a graduate assistant.

Powlus, Alford, Ianello, Parmalee, Verducci, Polian

I would say Hart, but the last couple games I've seen more and more than we can't win with how we substitute on our d-line.

I think Powlus has done a great job developing Clausen. Powlus can help draw Pennsylvania kids to ND, somethig that's been lacking! ND needs to get some of these kids that go to Penn State, Ohio State, and Boston College. ND needs to return to its roots and get some tough football players from PA and Ohio...Powlus could help with this.

i wouldnt plan on any of them being back maybe one or two to ease transition with certain things on campus and what not.

if i were coming in there really isnt one phase of this team that did great and i would want to surround myself with my guys rather than guys who were already given a chance to succeed and failed.

Verducci is a "Jersey guy" buddy of Charlie Weis. I don't think he's going to stick around even if asked.

Ianello was named the interim coach. He is the recruiting coordinator so I doubt if he will go anywhere

Why not Powlus, he was there every step along the way in developing Clausen and Crist. He is a good QB coach knows the position and what it is to play at Notre Dame.

I also think Powlus' value is in how heavily he was recruited and how he handled that pressure of being a QB at ND. That can be a big tool for many years to come at ND.

I think Polian, Ianello, Young, and Hart. Give Hart another offseason to develop the talent along the D line and to groom Young. Plus, Hart's energy is infectious.

I honestly don't care too much as long as Mendoza's belongings are the first ones loaded on the U-Haul.

I'm keeping Powlus because he learned under Weis about how to develop a QB. That's valuable knowledge there.

How is this so, when everybody know Weis was a QB friendly coach. He advise both Quinn and Clausen to watch tape on Tom Brady.. Weis helped Quinn with his mechanics. So tell me again how much Powlus was really involved in developing. Maybe some knowledge/insight was given but I wouldn't praise Powlus with all the credit. Secondly, the only big player he has brought in so far is Deion Walker.. His recruiting is below average if you ask me when compared to the other coaches..

Telling the QB to watch a tape is coaching him? I saw Clausen in high school... on film, his mechanis were horrendous! His mechanics we god aweful, and he struggled his first season. Powlus played for George Curry in high school, one of the best QB guys in the country. Has produced over 9 D1 Qb's. Holtz wanted him at Notre Dame! Someone changed Clausen's mechanics for the better, I think Powlus had a hand in it! ND does a terriable job in PA. ND is too worried about Billy-Bob from Texas that runs a 4.4! Give me a kid that will knock Billy-bobs head off any day! ND loses these PA kids to teams that beat their ass almost every week. ND doesn't recurt PA hard! These kids go to Pitt, BC, UCONN...ECT!

Definitely should stay:
-Ianello, WR's are amazing, offense was good, he has brought in great recruits, no brainer.
-Alford, our RB's looked so much better this season, gotta bet allen and hughes will be even better after another year under him
-Polian, recruiting genius along with ianello.
-Parmalee, great TE's we've had, he got ragone and burger to step it up in rudolphs absence too

Maybe:
-Verducci, o-line was hot and cold, but where it looked really good was in run blocking and that is his game so probably try and keep him.
-Powlus, i've never been a fan and he hasnt done jack recruiting, but jc did improve drastically
- Young and White, the grad assts i dont know too much about, they probably werent too involved but maybe they could help fill some vacancies...

Fire: the defensive staff obviously

verducci, alford, polian, parmalee, ianello. H

VERDUCCI/ALFORD dunno which to credit better rushing stats too but there was improvement so both get another year for me.

cant say powlus does much for us?

polian and ianello are recruiting champs for us.

parmalee brings great te/s to the table with consistency

hart is a one and done i think

I honestly can't see Verducci staying without Weis....Weis brought him and he's a friend of CW's from Jersey.

Plus the new coach is going to want people who are familiar with his system. I can see any new coach wanting to retain Ianello but, beyond him, it's going to be pretty hard to force feed somebody to the new coach.

I definitely think the whole staff needs arranging. The defense is just horrible, the offense is struggling, and Weis was just not tough enough on them.

man i like corwin. i know defense was garbage and the secondary got burnt but when they spend 90 percent of the game in man coverage they will get beat eventually

Would that be the same o-line that couldn't get 2 yards on the second to last drive?

Ron Powlus and Rob Ianello...and you achieve what you need to.

I was not impressed with any facet of this team outside the passing game, and recruiting...

...agree with some of the sentiments that the Oline was better, but still not good. The tight end position disappeared as a weapon because our interior fell back to their old ways.

The defense...did we field one...dbacks were not well coached...could not cover, could not tackle. Linebacker play was marginal...smith was absent, Manti made some nice plays, but he's a freshman...geez. The line...and ends...seriously TOAST. The Scheme (was there one) SUCKED ASS!

Special teams...took a serious step backwards on kick coverage...kicking improved, but how could it not.

So why Ron powlus...like others said Jimmy mad HUGE strides this year...either that was Powlus, or he participated...I like that plus, some folks talked about the need for PA penetration...I agree...JoePA does not have to leave PA to put a defense on the field, and if he concentrated on a 150 mile circle around Wilkes Barre PA, and did nothing else, he could still compete (yea I know alot of great kids come from the Pitt side of the state too). If you want battle tested ferocity on defense...I believe we need to spend some more time in JoePAs back yard....and who puts out more engineers than any other state in the land...you guessed it...PA, so I think you have a target rich environment of kids with a high probability of handling the academic standards. That area I described...thats Ron Powlus' home range...(Rocket and Ricky Watters too)...we've shown we can get some skill kids out of PA (walls, banks, costello, Lezynski) but the fatties and linebackers...we NEED those badly (POZ is the only one beides Kavanugh, a damned long snapper at 180#). I think Ron can be instrumental in bringing home some PA fatties and backers.

So why Rob Ianello...recruiting. Whatever happened when CW came...the recruiting part was awesome...Rob is the guy that has that playbook, and to some degree, the relationships with the current crop...he deserves to stay.
