I really wanted Charlie to be the one who turns things around. With his Giants and Notre Dame background you can understand why I wanted things to workout. Believe me I will be the first to say that Charlie has to go. It's just breaks my heart to see it happen.

You hit the nail on the head. I believe Charlie loves ND and this was his dream job. It was not all about the money. Not only does he hurt because he failed at his dream job, he hurts because he loves ND as much as we all do. Maybe even more than some on this board.

I really dont understand this statement. Charlie Weis has failed. Anybody with humanity who saw him crying while sending off his true blue first crop of seniors knows that this guy put all he had into this.

Do I feel sorry for him? Yes. Why? Because he busted his ass in every facet of his job and loves Notre Dame as much as any coach weve ever had and he is going to lose his job and will never reach career heights this high again.

Money has nothing to do with it. There are happy people who make $12 an hour and their are miserable people who make 500K a year. Leave money aside.

I have a 9 year old son. As I understand it, young Charlie is getting tormented at school over his dad. Im trying to think about this from in my own shoes. I dont think millions of dollars could console me knowing my son was getting abused at school over my career. I would be devastated.

We all should feel bad for him. Yes, he is not a great coach. He came in with a lot of arrogance and he learned a valuable lesson I believe.

The numbers just came out, ND graduated 96% of its players. #1 in the country. Charlie lost games on saturday but he prepared young men for success. He deserves at the least our pity for this. He will leave behind talented players to build on. His work ethic should be envied.

He tried hard and failed. It happens all over the place.

Yes, but the diffence is that neither Davie or Ty cared that much about ND. They could have been coaching anywhere else and it would not have mattered to them. In fact, I would have bet they both would have been happier if they coached elsewhere. Charlie loves ND and is an ND guy.

Charlie had the opportunity to remain head coach at
ND for the rest of his life if he had succeeded. No ND fan wanted to see him fail. He didn't appear at any time to learn from his mistakes. See quote from Lou Holtz below regarding lost opportunity.

Can I separate the man from the job? Yes.

Personally I feel sorry for Charlie Weis. Job speaking, of course winning is the biggest part of the job.

I honestly hope Mr Swarbrick really does do a evaluation in the truest sense of the word.

I hope he can distinquish Notre Dame players fumbling on the goal line or throwing ints at the goaline in games or field goal misses from well within range. I hope he sees personal foul penalties on a player after a 3rd and 10 play that sails 10 yards out of bounds in a 14-0 ballgame.

Gone by the wayside is PERSONAL accountability. CW takes all the blame. He never diverts it when clearly the blame isnt all on him in many cases this year.
