Notre Dame football.
The history is amazing.
The tradition is epic.
But please remember . . .
football is also a game.
Excel at the game, yes.
Players play with heart, please.
Coaches prepare your team for battle.
Fans support your team.
Remember community.
The glory worth defending is in the community that is Notre Dame,
not the division that feeds the fodder and fans the flame.
Not the money, the fame, the accolades.
Charlie Weis is a person before he's a coach.
The players are people before they are athletes.
The fans are people before they are supporters.
Remember the glory that has substance.
Notre Dame is family at its best.
Family must pull together under scrutiny.
Family must lift the fallen, not kick the weak.
Notre Dame is not a top program because
ESPN says it is.
Notre Dame is not a top program because of our records
and national championships.
It's the caliber of people.
The character of the family.
NBC can't sell it.
Coca Cola can't advertise it.
Adidas can't run it.
None of this shit really matters.
Back to basics means believing in
greatness. Striving for perfection.
Let's pull it together and keep
everything in perspective.
Notre Dame football will succeed
as long as it handles itself according
to the values that make it special.
Hard Work. Belief. Unity. Perseverance.
Notre Dame's finest days are not over
unless we accept that they are by
our actions. So with this said:
Take pride in why you love Notre Dame.
If this is difficult, what is it really about ND that
you love most?
