The reality is this team is no better than last years and defensively speaking - worse.

We whipped a WAC team and the worst team in the Pac 10 in 20 years.

We eeked out wins versus middling to below average teams like Purdue, MSU, BC, and Washington. Purdue on the last play, MSU on a overthrown, wide open TD they missed. Washington in overtime, BC on a last minute interception. Fine, They were wins. Collectively those teams are far below .500

Loses to USC, Navy, Michigan, and Pitt. Michigan is terrible and wont even make a bowl game. USC is a shadow of the USC of the past 5-8 years. Pitt is a "good" team, Navy is a service academy that ND should beat by 2 TDs every year.

Likely to win a tight game versus UConn and likely to get whomped by Stanford.

The reality of this program is that it has regressed. The record may be a game better than last years but the fact the starters have been together this long and are now upperclassmen tells me it is a regression. If a few of those early games bounce the wrong way this could be a 2-3 win team. It is unfathomable with the recruits at the top of their class to be this.

We also could have won every game we lost, you gotta look at both sides....Michigan did what they had to do on their last drive, and they were playing well at the time, had a shot against USC at the end, left 20 pts on the field against Navy and lost by two, and had the ball down 5 in the fourth against Pitt.....we could be undefeated, or like you say 3-7.
