What was the last year we competed in every game?

The one thing that is different so far this year that has not ocurred since Lou was here was ND competing in every game. Once or twice a year we are getting our ass handed to us and figuring out that we once again can't play with the big Boys. Whether we win or lose the remaining games it will be interesting to see if we can say that we competed in every game and never got beat, we just lost. We have been outplayed once by USC and we almost won. I think if we played every game over agian we would possibly be undefeated and would have much larger margins of victory. Maybe we will have to wait until next year for another chance to prove this. If we can win out I will consider this a good year and remember we were 3 plays away from an undefeated season.

2005? An OT loss, the Bush-Push, and a "blowout" to OSU where they were able to convert two 3rd and longs up 7 to put the game away. We didn't have any ugly wins that year either besides the Stanford game.

Look where they are. We have the talent. Just look at the guys we have. We should be hanging 40 on almost everyone with our offensive star power. What gives? At some point you have to ask yourself why, with a roster full of NFL caliber players, we aren't getting it done. Clausen, Tate, Rudolph, Floyd, McCarthy are all NFL guys. I'm sure there are others. WTF is going on? Maybe we should get rid of the student trainers.

Ok we were 4 plays from being 9-0 and 4 plays from being 9-0, to survive all this heartache I am trying to keep my glass half full. We were better teams in every game except the USC game. Maybe CW should be evaluated at the end of the season?

yeah i dont want to hear about 4 plays from anything. the bottom line is that the team doesnt do the fundamentals well STILL, they are not tough and they are not disciplined. the toughness thing is what bothers me the most. i am sick of seeing guys dbs especially doing everything they can to not make a form tackle.

this is the reason that this team does not win or play consistently.

this cs and supporters can talk all they want about players this and that and outstanding accolades but they dont block well, they dont tackle well they dont fight off or through blocks. these are the MOST important things in the game.

close just doesnt cut it, it really and truely doesnt and the reason its been close is because this team does not play good fundamental football.

if you cant line up and run the ball when you have a 50 lb per man advantage there is something wrong with the attitude of the team. yet there we are watching 5 wides and wondering why half the team are sissys.

Good post, I can't see ND getting a tough team rep passing the ball 51 times a game. The only guy who lays the wood is Teo and he's a freshman. Brian Smith was missing tackles all day. He and Blanton talk alot of shit but don't back it up. Olsen also portrays himself as a tough guy but can't get any push on run plays.

They gained 628 yards of total offense. It certainly was not a blowout, but the game was not nearly as close as the score indicated.
