The fact of the matter is this is a 2 win team without the guy. Bottom line. Its kind of like the MVP in baseball, does it go to the best player on the best team or truly the most valuable guy to his team. The Heisman is really convoluted and there is no formula it seems.

Who is he putting up these numbers against? He's not facing the Pac-10 or SEC or Big XII every week. If he were and he was putting up the same type of numbers--and whose to say he wouldn't--than there would be more to talk about. I just don't think of him as much of a leader. Again, not all his fault, but his record as a starter is 15-15 (I think).

And... Tebow's two good games have come against Charleston Southern and South Nebraska School for Blind Nuns?

Did I say I consider him a legitimate candidate? Hell, I don't think that he is on any writer's list of potential winners.

But give Tebow credit: his team is undefeated.

Yeah... I'm sure losing a couple games absolutely KILLED the chances for... I dunno...

John David Crow
Vic Janowicz
Erine Davis
Jim Plunkett
Marcus Allen
Ty Detmer
Rickey Williams
Steve Owens
George Rogers
Bo Jackson
Tim Brown
Tim "I am actually Christ" Tebow
Jay Berwanger (Chicago went 4-4 that year)

and some guy named Paul Hornung who went 2-8 for some school. Ah... which one was it... with the green and the gold and stuff? I seem to forget.

That stuff doesn't matter in the BSpn Tim Tebow era.

All of those winners are either decades ago or very rare circumstances. No way Clausen can beat out McCoy, Tebow, or Ingram now.

Someone said this is a two win team without Clausen. Ironically, this is almost a two win team with him. Remember the team nearly lost to Washington, Purdue, Michigan State and Boston College.

McCoy and Tebow only have put up numbers against the West Texas School for both the Blind and Retarted. Ingram's the only other player I would put in the same zip code as Jimmy.

They almost beat Navy, UM, and USC too.

And they've beaten all of those teams. You're crazy if you think that Florida and Texas wouldn't handle Navy easily.

Ohio State isn't on the same level as Florida or Texas. Florida has also beaten LSU and other decent SEC teams. We've beaten Michigan State and Purdue.

And U$C won't lose to Washington or Stanford.

And Florida won't lose to Auburn or Georgia.

And Texas won't lose to Kansas State or Texas A&M.

And Cal can't lose to an inferior Oregon team.

Houston can't knock off Oklahoma State.

That's why you play the games.

Unfortunately, we are losing games that we win on paper. When do the results match the expectations, and when do you decide to start over. Hope fades eventually. I still want CW to succeed, but I have serious, lingering, painful doubts anymore.

USC is terrible this year. However after the rebuild, they will be back to elite status next year. Luckily ND gets to head to the Mausoleum next year to get their yearly waxing and rub & tug.

So... all of a sudden, when a point is argued, U$C becomes terrible? Convient and interesting phork.

USC becomes terrible? Eh? They got jailsexed by Oregon, lost to Washington and barely beat ASU tonight. For USC, as per USC Codes of Standards Chapter 1 Verse 5: Thou shalt not lose more than 2 games per regular football season. So sayeth the poodle.

If you even try to argue that they are an elite team and would do well in a BCS matchup, then I know for sure that you are on crack cocaine.

When lose to a terrible Michigan team, get beat by Navy and lose to U$C at home, then I'd say you have little chance for the Heisman. Jimmy has improved greatly but I don't see him taking home any awards this year. He may go to the pros but I think another year at ND would be his best decision

Meth, actually.

And yeah, they are an elite team. Still are... as much as it hates me to say that. You put U$C on a field with any Big 10 team, I'll bet my life on it. I think if you give them another crack at the Ducks, they win or make it close. You give them a shot at Alabama or another SEC team that has a subpar Quarterback, they win or make it close.

Go look at his stats in those games. Wasn't his fault. If Tim Brown and the "Horn-dog" can win a Heisman with terrible records, Jimmy can.

Point his...he still lost! As long as Tebow and McCoy continue to win I would say Jimmy is going to have a tough time taking home the Heisman. Plus I don't see the school touting Jimmy like they did the year Brown and Horning won. In the Internet age, all schools are on more of a equal footing for publicity unlike when Horning played

Ware in '89 and Detmer in '90 played for generally non-relevant teams. Good point on Tebow but his numbers were pretty good and Florida was coming off a national championship. I think Jimmy has a harder climb, there is no love for ND. ND is generally irrelevant from a championship standpoint.

I would be happy for Jimmy if he wins it, though i'm not going to bet my left nut and all my money on it.

The year Bo Jackson won, Auburn had been ranked #1 - lost to Florida and Tennessee, games Bo left due to injury.

I like Jimmy, ND's record this year is horrific without him. Probably something only a fan would appreciate. We'll see how the voting goes.

I just went through that list to show that teams that have lost have had Heisman winners. It has quieted some of the boo-birds and trolls.
