Well, I am not going to wait for the final word from our fearless leader CW. After watching the Crist play too many times, I am not as optimistic. It looked ugly and I am feeling ACL type injury. So, if this is the case and Jimmy decides to go NFL, we are without a QB until next fall.

With all this, expect CW to announce today that John Goodman will be starting to take some time at QB. I am bummed that Crist will miss time especially because I believe he is going to be a good QB and an even better leader, but am pretty relieved that we have a kid like Goodman. Goody, as he is called by most, is one heck of an athlete.

From all accounts, he has a cannon arm. It surely is not as accurate as Crist or Clausen, but his mobility is far beyond either of them. When a guy can create time in the pocket, he does not need as much accuracy because coverages break down.

Further positive with Goody is the fact he has been in the program for almost two full seasons now. He knows the WR patterns since he has been playing as one. He will have all spring and summer to get acclimated with the WR's.

In conclusion, I wish a speedy, healthy and full recovery to Dayne Crist. Good Luck and Get Well!! To John Goodman, seize the moment and have fun playing your favorite position, QB!!

Final Question? If Dayne is out with knee for the remainder of the season, can he get a medical redshirt for a possible sixth year. I know that this has been done by several people in college football in the past. In fact, I believe that someone on the USC D is a case this season.

From all I've heard and read, throws the furthest of all the Irish. If Tate stays, you don't have to be as accurate with the receiving core that we have. He has good speed as well so he's a threat to take off with the ball. He'd be a hell of a QB out of the wildcat too!! But really, hope Jimmy stays but it comes down to finishing his degree and playing for a NC vs the call of the NFL $$ and prestige. Please stay Jimmy, we've set the table for you.

You know who also threw the ball really far? Jamarcus Russel, arm strength does not make a great QB but i expect to see more wildcat with Goodman

Actually, the quickest response I have for reciprocity sakes is:

John Goodman=Really F'en Fast

The boy can move for heaven's sake. He punked his coverage with that post route!

He is not really speedy but he is a long strider, deceptive speed. Hard to get a read on guys like that so you will see defenders take poor angles on him

I hope this never happens!!!!!!!

I think Goodman can probably run a spread/option type offense with his athleticism.

We know he can throw far but the true question is how accurate is he?

Alright, so I guess he's 4.7ish in the 40. Samardjiza was like 4.6ish. His speed isn't quick, but it's fast.

I bet his 100 yd. dash would be impressive based on what looked to be his top speed and stride length, quite relative to Floyd. Fast and quick are somewhat subjective and seperate areas in the running realm...

With Goody at QB a switch to the Wildcat actually does create a mismatch. Defenses can cheat with Clausen split out wide but Goody is a bona fide receiver. Plus ND would not have to send in new personnel for the Wildcat so the defense would not have time to subsitute personnel accordingly.

Advantage ND.

I bet Goodman would just be awesome at Georgia Tech or West Virginia. He's a nice weapon for the Wildcat.
