Who would you like us to play in a bowl?

And why?

BCS

Iowa - I'm confident we could beat them.
Boise State - They play in the WAC. Notre Dame (Jimmy Clausen, in particular) has done pretty well against WAC teams recently. Clausen has thrown more touchdown passes than incompletions in his two games against WAC opponents, and Golden Tate and Michael Floyd have gone crazy on WAC secondaries.

Non-BCS

Ohio State - Terrelle Pryor is ridiculously overrated. If we stacked the box and forced Pryor to throw, we could win.
Miami - Their secondary blows.
Michigan - If we played again, on a neutral field, Notre Dame would win by 10.

Penn State: more for personal reasons since I graduated from there. Huge ND though and would like to see them play once more before Paterno, you know, dies or retires (whichever comes first)

Every Big 10 team is overrated and this would be great for the argument if we can beat their "Best" team in a bowl as to why we should not join their conference. We could always just call that win a Big Ten Championship.

Iowa actually has a defense, I think its better than USCs.
BoiseSt frightens me. They like to run every play imaginable, including all kinds of trick plays. They'll pull out all the stops for a W. BoiseSt is head and shoulders above the rest of those team in that conference.

OhioState.. We could stack the box all day long, but our defense doesn't scare anyone. He might not throw a pretty long ball, but he gallups like a gazelle and would chew up the D.
Miami's D is suspect, but they can play some offense.
I would love a rematch with Michigan, just because that loss stung so much.

I'd rather hit the Cotton bowl over the Gator and just beat the snot out of an SEC team.

Reading over some the BCS rules and regs I just had to laugh at this one:

It was also agreed that Notre Dame would receive an annual fee of $1.3 million from the BCS in the years when its team does not participate in one of the games, and $4.5 million when its team does participate.

$1.3Mill for not making it to a BCS game. No wonder people hate us.

Iowa's D cant touch USC's. And I just want Boise State to lose, but I think we match up pretty well with them. I'm confident about us playing any Big 10/ACC/Big East team.

I want to play either Bama, Fl, or LSU. I want to see how we compete against SEC speed and a Championship Coach.

Alabama - Greg McElroy would be throwing the rock all over the field. Julio Jones would look like a stud and would break a record for broken tackles. Mark Ingram would run for 150+ yards. Meanwhile, Jimmy Clausen would be taking a beating from Terrence Cody and Alabama's outstanding front seven.

Florida - See above.

LSU - Now this is a team we could beat.

Consider the opponents. Your comparison--purely a conference to conference comparison because I'm not comparing BSU to Florida--would be like saying ND vs. Florida would work out well if ND had played Vanderbilt and Kentucky and ripped them both. Nevada and Hawai'i are not Boise State. Heck, they're not even the second and third best teams in that conference. That honor belongs to La. Tech and Fresno State (talent wise anyway).

Miami - Their secondary blows.

So does ours. Their offense is pretty dynamic led by Jacorry Harris.

Ohio St, Iowa, Michigan, Cal, Miami, Florida St, LSU, Georgia,

I like us against these schools. Would a bowl win over any of them be a signature victory?

I hope ND makes it to a bowl. I said at the start of the season, this is a .500 team, given the TOUGH SCHEDULE. We may lose out.

Well...

ND has a tough road ahead. I'm rooting for my team, but it will be tough. They are banged up, still young, and still don't have enough depth. I think CW is working on it.

Upswing.

That damn Jacory Harris and his 11-7 TD to Interception ratio. We would have no chance.

Hmmm....I don't recall saying we wouldn't have a chance but if the logic is that our offense could score on their defense at will than you'd best not pretend like they couldn't score on ours.

And--bear in mind I hate Miami and their fans--Miami has played much, much stiffer competition than we have. Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech and Florida State. So maybe Jacory's TD-INT ration isn't sparkling but he's beating damn good competition. Are we?

The problem with people like you is that you act like I just walked uninvited through your front door and insulted your mother. Try being realistic once in a while.

Still young? 15 our 22 starters are in their junior or senior seasons. Some of them in their third or fourth year starting!

Young with no depth. Try a team with senior after senior after senior as backups.

My sister is older and kicked my ass until I got older.

Then I became nice to her.

What the hell does you getting beat up by your sister have to do with college football?

The only teams that have senior after senior after senior play in the Ivy League!!

By the way....I totally feel your pain with the older sister. Mine kicked my ass all the time.

Really?

I just reminder how abysmal Miami looked against Florida State in week one. Christian Ponder was throwing all over the field.

He's done that a few times. Florida State is inconsistent not incapable.

Maybe not sr after sr but if you look at Bam, Florida, USC, OSU, or Iowa, what they all have in common is that they have at least 6 guys in their 3rd year or higher starting. Notre Dame has 3

I'm going to bed but before I do I'm going to throw this post out there. I know most people don't care it's entirely unwanted but I'd like to clarify a few things about my thoughts and where I'm coming from.

1. I don't think Charlie Weis should be fired. He's at the helm of the second best offense in the country. Talent wise this might be the best but schematically Florida's offense is better. You can talk about Florida's talent but Urban Meyer's scheme produced the two best teams in the country last season: Florida and Utah. Utah owned Alabama and that was all Urban Meyer's scheme and a lot of his recruits.

2. That being said Urban Meyer is egotistical and has, in my view, shady morals. I would rather bring back Bob Davie than see Urban at ND.

3. Charlie Weis haters point to his inability to win the big game. That's fair. CW has been unable to push the teams over the top. That being said he is truly rebuilding a program. Any success Davie and Willingham had was smoke-and-mirrors. Weis truly had to start from scratch, change the atmosphere and the face of the football program. He's done magnificently well in convincing talented young men that Notre Dame is relevant and capable.

4. CW apologists talk about progress and getting better. It's true: Notre Dame has progessed. The problem I have is that ND has progressed much slower than other top notch programs. It sure hasn't taken Saban long to turn around Alabama, didn't take Tressel long at OSU, didn't take Stoops long at Oklahoma and even Randy Shannon has turned Miami around pretty quickly. That being said CW is like the team--a work in progress. He's much better than the next best option which seems to be Brian Kelly.

5. This years incarnation of Notre Dame football is better than last year but it's glaringly obvious that the defensive staff is inept. Until CW gets a defensive mind that is his offensive equivalent (or at least in that stratosphere) ND isn't going to win as many games as they should.

6. This team is worth of a 20-25 ranking. I don't want to see ND in a BCS game because it would just be ugly again unless we could match up with Cincinatti.

7. The media loves to overrate Notre Dame and then, when ND loses a few games, wildy underrate them. They all want ND to be relevant and talk about how good it is for CFB when ND is good but they all cry about Notre Dame being overrated....funny lot the media.

8. There are a bunch of fans on this board who get called out for wanting Weis fired at all cost. There are fans on the board like that, it's true. But the fans who think Charlie Weis is a guru and demi-god are every bit as irrational as the haters yet nobody calls them out on it.

9. This is the best part: The Weis lovers hate me and so do the Weis haters. Damn it's good to be here.

The Jacory Harris hype really just annoys me. Kid is a good QB and will be a very good one the next couple years but he really hasn't impressed me this year. Hes so used to having perfect protection and then when he faces a D like VA Tech he cant handle it. I'm not saying we have VA Techs D either but I think we could get some pressure on him. If you take away the Florida A&M game, they are averaging just over 25 points a game. Their offense really doesnt impress me all that much.
