I can't sit still, the hair stands up on my neck, my arms and legs shiver with goosebumps..... It's almost here...... Its been a few years since we even had a chance to get this victory, and this year I think it can be accomplished. I wish I could just go into a coma til game day, this is just agonizing each and every minute!!!!

I want this victory more than any other victory on the schedule. We NEED this victory. If we lose this game, the program will once again get setback, because like him or not, Weis will probably be gone. On the flip side, we win this game, and in all seriousness we will return to the national sportlight, not just cause we beat SC, but because of the momentuem it is going to give us to finish the season and go 11-1. We prolly won't be in the NC conversation, but seriously, given the program we have had in the last 2 years, 11-2 and a BCS bid is absolutely AWESOME!!!

This game is 100% what we need to get over the hump that has plagued ND for the past few years. No one will every respect from the media again until we beat USC, and even then alot of haters out there will just say SC is down this year. Well they may be right, but nevertheless, SC is a POWERHOUSE. They will get respect each and every year because of the shear amount of talent that goes thru that football factory.

The second half of the season is going to be brutal, trust me. These teams are WAY better than anyone could have ever predidcted, and a win this week should give us the momentuem to not only be vicotrious, but put a stamp on the program returning to glory.

This is the biggest game this program has had since 05, and we desperately need to win!! My heart is beating out of my chest just writing this thing!!! Our time is now, and we need to CAPITALIZE!!!!!

IRISH WILL RETURN TO GLORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait either - I was so anxious this morning I thought I had the flu.

What really excites me - ND is a year away - new defensive scheme and a slew of sophomores on defense (yeah, safeties, corners, and many not soph's) - but see line as young. If you watched the games this year - it hasn't been scheme as much as missed assignments - mainly by players who hadn't been on the field before (in college) - many who were held out last year.
Harrison Smith (admittedly) hasn't looked all that great at safety after looking god last year as a linebacker. But, as I said, it hasn't been scheme. If the lights come on, and the players trust themselves and the scheme, they will lose that 1/2 step hesitation that is the difference between making the tackle (wrapping up would help as well) and missing it.
Also, the players would be staying in position and the middle slants that have plagued us will be closed down. We saw that in flashes by KPL, Te'o, Neal against Washington. Also, you don't hold Washington to 11 plays inside the 5 (6 inside the one) on goal-line stances without something to be said for the defense - it's harder to be out of position in those situations. Trust in the scheme and experience will take this defense into a great 2010 (as well as a Chris Martin and a Lueders, etc...).
Now - is the Washington defense better than the USC offense? Better personel? Maybe better coaching? Is the Washington offense better than the USC defense? Better personel? Maybe better coaching? Can't blame Barkley being out - Carroll recruited Corp over Clausen - he had his man. Washington just showed more heart! Last year in the bowls - did Utah have a better defense/personel than Bama's offense? Better coaching? Did Utah have a better offense/personel than Utah's defense? Coaching? They had more heart. This ND team has finally shown heart. All we need to see on Saturday - is that heart. We will win again! We will dominate again! Because? WE ARE ND... and they're not!!!!!! DO YOU BELIEVE???? let's go out there boys and show some heart!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAaaaarrrrgggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember, some years ago, the Irish were not supposed to be on the same field as a highly (#1) ranked Michigan team. All experts had the Irish losing big. Guess what? The Irish went into the big house and skull dragged their ass. I am getting that feeling about this game. Can't explain it. Just optimistic.

I don't think Charlie is automatically gone, with a loss. This team still has the capability to beat everyone else on the schedule. If they finish 10-2, go to a good bowl game, and beat a good team there? I think Weis is back next year. If we get blown out, then drop another 1 or 2, and finish 8-4, 9-3? THEN I think you can honestly start talking about Weis being gone next year.

No way Weis is gone regardless of how we finish this year.

If they fire Weis, we lose Jimmy, AA, and Golden to the Draft and I think depending on who the new coach is Crist Transfer and we lose a lot of the Recruits that are already committed. It would be dumb of the University to fire Weis when next year will be our best team in my lifetime!

Yep. Almost time.

Time to gear up for the game, though. Time to loosen and warm the tranny by running it through its paces.

First, start gently with red wine (heart medicine). Second, slip smoothly into beer (grain and protein). Third, power shift deftly into vodka (palate cleansing). Fourth, slam aggresively into Jameson (soul food). Repeat, as needed, increasing RPM points to maximize power beginning Wednesday evening.

The intention is to be in shape enough to run to red-line without being blind by the fourth quarter – while remaining functional at work or in class in the interim.

Practice, Practice, Practice ...

Guys I got to Admit I'm getting a good feeling about this.

I feel the same way i did last year before the Texas Tech - Texas game. (I'm also a big Tech fan, although they are a distant second to the Blue and gold)

Last year there was the same kind of feeling with that program, huge underdogs but EVERYONE believed they could do it, it was incredible.

And that game ended up being the best game I watched last year pro and college alike!

I think all of your points for not firing Weis are valid, but you did say "no way", so I have to point this out:

We are currently 4-1. Some would say that we are lucky to be that, but that is beside the point. After starting 4-1, if this team goes 4-3 the rest of the season, and finishes the season 8-4, then Charlie is probably gone. I don't see them dropping 3 more games, and I wouldn't agree with the decision, but it would be hard to argue against it, as well.

I had a dream last night...The details aren't important but for some reason it ended with me walking into my living room and the Notre Dame/USC game was on tv.

The television was somewhat blurry as I approached it became more clear. It was the 4th Quarter and the closer I got the more the screen came into focus. I was watching the time wind down 6...5...4...3...2...1...

I scrambled to see the score. It was 59 to 51 - Notre Dame wins! I could see Clausen running on the field celebrating with the rest of the team.

I have no idea why my subconscious thinks it's going to be a high score while my conscious thinks it will be sub 35 range.

Either way.....gotta love the outcome! GO IRISH!!!

I've not been able to really get a feel one way or the other, but I am more excited than I have been for a long time. Saturday isn't coming fast enough for me. I have to give a presentation tomorrow at a sales conference. My final slide in my power point will be one rooting on the Irish.

My flight leaves at 7 in the morning tomorrow to get me out there. I cannot remember a time where I was this excited for anything. I have been shaking for the last week. A win Saturday would keep me satisfied for the rest of the year.

I get mixed emotions when thinking about whether I would want CW out or not. I just want whats best for ND Football. I think CW has been doing a pretty damn good job. We are winning games and getting some big time recruits. We just need to get our D up. And who knows. Let CW stay one more year. Give John Tenuta another year with the D, especially with some big time recruits on the D side of the ball coming in (and hopefully a handful more after Saturday) and ND could dominate. ND would look amazing if our D was a little better. Our offense has been putting up the numbers, in the books and on the scoreboard. It's just that our D lets the opponent do the same and that makes are offense look, not so outstanding. But if we were shutting down offenses allowing less than 250 ypg and no more than 10-14 points per game, it definately be putting the ball in JC hands more and easily have him leading the Heisman pack. It's only what if now, but next year, I think it will become reality. Let's just all stand behind our team this week and Cheer Cheer Ol' Notre Dame to VICTORY!!!

GO IRISH!

30-28

Of all the teams that are lucky enough to be called Irish rivals, I hate SC with a passion. Im from California so every college sweatshirt i see is CAL, USC, CAL, USC. When the clock ran out and the Irish won in 2005 and then the refs had time reset and the whole Bush Push phenomenom happened, I was so . . . wrecked. Ive never been so heartbroken after a football game before and ive played since i was 8 years old. A win on saturday would be overwhelmingly wonderful. I like how reporters are interviewing Rudolf and Tate and asking them if ND has a chance. Id be asking SC personally. If our defense plays a great game and we get some solid screens and draws going for some yards, we'll be unstoppable in the air. I hope they double up on Golden and leave #9 open underneath. We could drive on them all day. Im buying some Pabst makin some food and not leaving my living room till ND has won. My prediction? ND (30-28). Barkley is a leader and as much as I hate SC its the greatest rivalry in college football. 3 field goals. 3 TDs. Sorry this post is so long.

Oh, shit. TRANSMISSION! [Would "gear box" be a better fit?]

There you go!!! Smack that beaver around!

On another note, how many f'n times can ESPN play the clip of USC's line coaches playing slip and slide at practive yesterday? Pete's the master motivator! Here come the Trojans!

F You. It's all business for us. It's time for the bully to get bullied. Line up and punch them in the mouth. No flea flickers, no double reverses, no fake punts on 4th and 6 from the 40. You are the team, and this is the year. Man up, play smart, and act like you've been there. You belong now, we believe in you. Get the job done.

60 minutes to victory. Go Irish.

I know, that really F*in pisses me off. To me that is just ultimate disrespect. Like oh we're only playing Notre Dame, no need to practice, let's just get gay and take off our shirts and play slip'n'slide. I hope they "slip" up bad after taking time off "n' slide" down the ranks. I hope ND F*in annihilates FUSC!!!!!

GO IRISH!!
