3. Mark Ingram
4. Tony Pike
5. Ryan Williams

Biggest load of crap Ive ever seen. This is obvious bias, I knew when that limo crap happened he was cooked. This was from ESPN Tracker.

Tebow doesn't deserve to be in the top 5 at this point. What a bunch of crap. Reminds me of the Jamarcus Russell hype.

ryan williams? isn't he a red shirt freshman? if he keeps up his performance, maybe next year. but shouldn't heisman be reserved for upperclassman?

Maybe with Tebow's cuncussion, and seeing double, they counted 2 touchdowns - but doesn't that mean 2 Int's?

I heard they are going to give Tebow the Heisman retroactively for his senior year in High School, just because is so "great" now.

Why do people get all worked up over this? I personally don't care about it as long as we win. JC will make his own legacy here at ND without the hiesman.

i think several people at espn have a top 5 posted, but i believe the overall heisman tracker has jimmy near the top. even if he has moved out of the top 5, a win against USC will put him at the top. bc we know the D isn't going to win the game.

The year Tebow won his heisman, I was disgusted. The heisman is supposed to be reserved for the most outstanding player of the year. That year, nobody was truly outstanding. It seemed like they had to give it to some one and because no one had rushed and passed for so many touchdowns in the same year they just gave it to Tebow. This is my opinion, obviously, but I am so F'n sick of all the man-crushes on Tebow. He's only number 1 based on what he did last year, same with mccoy. He stays at number 1 because Tebows on an amazing team, not that he's an amazing player. Now that he came back from a concussion and his team beat the number 4 team in the country I'm afraid the media will never see light again, now that their heads are so far up Tebow's ass! I'm just ranting, but damn, it really pisses a guy off!

Jimmy's #2 on the list right now.

On Saturday I saw Jimmy as number 4 on the ESPN bottom line

After a win against USC Jimmy will be top 3 on lists. Tebow, of course will still be number 1.......

In Tebow's defense, you have to include his rushing stats. He accounts for 12 TD's, I believe, when you factor in rushing. He ran for over 100 yards versus KY and was injured in that game. I'm not saying he's doing better than Clausen, but him being on the list isn't a travesty of justice.

Plus, have you seen pictures of his girlfriend? That's worth a few TD's and some yardage.

Whether or not Tebow is Heisman worthy or not is irrelevant. I'd love to have him on my team. Guy is a leader and a flat out gamer.

The Heisman is a prestigious award with a muddy qualification. It has excluded some of the best players of the game, only because they aren't on offense and aren't a QB, RB or WR in that order. Where all these guys earn their money it starts on the OLine. There are some exceptional players on D as well. Some shut down corner can't help it if some other team doesn't want to throw at him.

So the Heisman should really not be "Most Outstanding College Football Player In The United States." But rather "Most Outstanding QB, RB, WR and if feeling VERY generous, someone from the defensive back field, player in the United States."

Certainly Jimmy fits the mould. Great stats, game winning last second drives, etc. Hasn't won a big game yet though.. Beat USC and you can all but hand him the trophy imo. If not, you'll have to wait until next year, when USC is better than they are this year.

espn (notice small case) Not to be redundant but------------------- irrelevant, they gotta get a new angle and someone else to snipe at, very old schtick-very old indeed. I go with the Mike Singletary theory with those talking heads. Cant coach 'em, dont use 'em, dont need 'em, dont want 'em. Cant have 'em around.

The common belief is that Dennis Dixon of Oregon would have won if he hadn't been injured.

True. Harris = PFFT.

Jimmy will be #1 if ND beats USC.

Yeeeeeeees!

When has it went to that description? The heisman has became a joke now and is really award to a player on the #1 or #2 team in the nation. Let look at pervious players.

08 Sam Bradford
07 Tim Tebow
06 Troy Smith (WTF!! Ted Ginn made him look good)
05 Reggie Bush
04 Matt Lienart
03 Jason White
02 Carson Palmer
01Eric Crouch
00 Chris Weinkie
99 Ron Dayne
98 Ricky Williams

Now beside Tebow and Bradford how many of these guys had made big impacts in the NFL?

While I'm with you 100% that the Heisman voting has been a joke many years, NFL impact has and should have no bearing on the Heisman. NFl dominance is irrelevant, as this is a COLLEGE award.

For example, as great as Bush was his jr year, many people still think Vince Young should have gotten it. Well, Young has been a colossal bust, and Bush has been marginal. Eric Crouch was an absolute STUD in college, but his game didn't translate to the NFL. Leinart deserved it, he played QB in a pro-style system and put up huge numbers, unlike the spread numbers of guys like Bradford and McCoy.

If the guy is the most outstanding player in college, he deserves the award, period. The problem is not in presumed NFL success, the problem is in the voting of the award...

I think everyone can agree that the best player in the country is not a quarterback every single year, as the Heisman would suggest.

Carson Palmer is a two time Pro Bowler, and Ricky Williams may start playing a key role in Miami, in the Wildcat. But your point is well taken. Not many Heisman guys go on to stellar NFL careers. However...so what? The award is not for "The Guy Most Likely to Have a Great NFL Career". All of these guys had excellent years, when they won the award.

Just Like the Nobel Peace Prize

Just Like the Nobel Peace Prize

ESPN's analysis of the Heisman race is just like the handing out the Nobel Peace Prize, give it to what ever liberal bozo is making you all warm and fuzzy at the time.

Agreed! And Russell is a "joke" in the NFL ... no pocket presence, inaccurate thrower and can't take a hit for as big as he is!
