This is from ESPN insider.

I agree with Sam from Chicago. Tate Forcier gets more sentance's than Jimmy Clausen.
What's up with that!!!!! This proves that ND has to beat USC to get any respect......

From Sam in Chicago: In a recent blog post, you wrote four or five sentences about Tate Forcier and just one sentence about Jimmy Clausen? It's ridiculous how Clausen and Notre Dame are always getting slighted by the national media. This kid goes out and leads the Irish on a last-minute, winning-drive on one leg basically. If that was Tim Tebow, he'd already have been awarded the Heisman. Yet, no one has him at No. 1? What more does he have to do for you people?

The short answer? Win a big game. Then I think you'll see Clausen in the Heisman mix. I wasn't counting sentences Saturday night when I wrote that. One guy was playing against Indiana. The other against Purdue. Neither opponent is exactly Oklahoma or Florida. Much of my reaction to Forcier stems from the fact that this is a true freshman leading this team.

As far as Clausen goes, I've pointed out in the blog this month on several occasions how impressed I've been with his performance this season -- but to get to the next level, the burden of proof is on this team to get back into the top 15. Losing at Michigan to a team relying on a true freshman quarterback hurts ND's cause. As it relates to the Heisman, it hurts Clausen.

In fairness to Clausen, the Irish D hasn't helped him much, but if he is going to win the Heisman this year, it's going to require almost a perfect-storm scenario: First, he needs to keep his level of play high and the Irish need to win out. Big stats didn't get Graham Harrell to New York for the awards ceremony, and I doubt it would for Clausen either.

How many so called big games has Forcier won? His first 4 games have all came at home and two of those games are very questionable with the homerism officiating. Forcier isn't winning at Iowa or Wisconsin, Penn St and tOSU will beat them at home.

Forcier beat ND. So for everyone on here predicting an ND 10-2 or 11-1 BCS game, that would be a big game. Kid had a let down against a historically piss poor Indiana team, but I say historically because even the sun shines on a dogs ass once in a while.

Unfortunately for Forcier his team is blessed with a stinky defense, much like NDs is. I had UM winning 5 or 6 this year, I have changed that to a possible Big10 title, although I still think tOSU will beat them this year.

PS: Clausen hasn't won many more.

UofM in the big title. Pass me what your smoking. Both Iowa, Wisconsin, and Penn State have better defeneses than what Forcier has played against. Forcier has yet to prove he can win on the road. Again the ND and Indiana game are very questionable on the fact of bad officiating.

Indiana isnt as bad as ppl seem to think. They were a bowl team 2 years ago and it's not like going through the death of their coach has helped their recruiting. They do have a stud in the making in running back Darius Willis though. I know you started a thread about how they were giving Michigan a game, therefore meaning ND sucks obviously, so I'm sure you must know much, much more about them than anyone else on here so I wont go on about Indiana too much. I really don't get how you can be so pessimistic about ND and think that a team that beat them on a last second TD at home with questionable officiating (so a team of roughly the same talent) could possibly win the Big 10 title. You're basically saying that ND could win the Big 10 if they were in that conference, which doesnt really match up with all your other posts.

I never said Indiana was a bad team, let me say this a little slower for you though... HIS - TOR - IC - ALLY that have been bad. So right now they are an unknown quantity. Frankly I am not sure how you mined the "therefore ND sucks obviously" comment from this post. I know just as much as most everyone on here bro. I don't claim to have sources, I don't claim to have inside info.

There is a difference between pessimism and realism. The reality is its going to be a long year with Jimmy hurting the rest of the way. The reality is a Gator bowl, or less. The reality is that in year 5 of rebuild we should be able to compete in the Big10. If every team in the Big10s defense is as bad as UM or MSUs then sure ND can compete.

Confused you with midwestguy....kinda easy to do

historically piss poor Indiana team, but I say historically because even the sun shines on a dogs ass once in a while.

for me, that implied that indiana always sucks but plays or gets some lucky breaks once in a while, when they've been a pretty good team the last 4 years (excluding 2008...) Last year when we were 6-4 and face with a likely 7-5 year with Syracuse and USC left on the schedule, the gator bowl reps were still drooling over us and praying for us to get to 7 wins, so we wont go to any bowl below the gator. I get what youre saying and sorry for confusing you with midwestguy but the "reality" is that we have 4 teams left on our schedule who we could potentially lose to: Washington, USC, Pitt, and Stanford and I can't see us losing to more than one of those teams. If the Gator Bowl wanted us at 7-5 you can bet a BCS bowl will want us at 10-2.

I'm biased in that I hate UM - not so out there that I can say I saw the IU game coming - but, I have a sneaky suspicion that Sparty waxes Skunkbear - no matter how hard the Big 10 tries to reestablish it's big 3, clearly by officiating if they must - The officials were just as "win this one for Bo" with IU as they were with ND.

Thread can be closed! Forcier can't win on the road. Like I said he won his first 4 games at home with 2 of them being questionable officiating..

Yah he did drive them for 2 TDs in the last part of the game, one with 2 seconds left. Not his fault that his defense sucks.

He was impressive but pick in OT was bad. D let up 20 points...not bad really

but I've been impressed with Forcier the whole year. I'd rather have Clausen personally but in RichRod's offense I would obviously take Forcier.

In OT he threw to a double cover receiver! Clausen has lead his team down field in two games now on a bad foot to win it and one was on the road. Fact is, Forcier has yet to win on the road and has suffer a lost to a 1-3 MSU team that ND beat..

Yah, seniors shouldn't be making those mistakes. Oh wait, he is a freshman. Who beat us.
