I'm worried about our offense now that we've lost the best receiver in the country for the year, but I still feel with as light as our schedule is,excluding usc, that we can still win 10 games if our backups step up.what do u guys think?

I think that our offense will be just fine.

I also think that our schedule isn't that light.

USC is not that good.

I believe if Tenuta realizes that he needs to keep more guys in coverage that we have a tiny chance to go 11-1 but more than likely 10-2.

There are still some landmines out there. Jury is still out on Pitt, Uconn, and Stanford. Washington could enter that mix, but think they are a one man show. Defense will dictate what we do the rest of the way. If the defense continues to struggle, every game will come down to the wire except for Washington St.

I would say stop believeing the hype about our schedule, its not going to be easy. losing Floyd hurts bad, but I think JC can still make it work.

Even with Floyd down, this is our best chance to beat USC in quite some time. I am looking forward to the game. USC will be coming to south bend a week after traveling to CAL, so they will have back to back away games when they play at south bend.

Did you watch the Washington game on Saturday? They are not a one man show. They held SC to 13 points. Last I checked, Locker didn't log any minutes on defense. I know Corp didn't have a good game, but Washington stood toe to toe with them and took as good as they got. Washington scares me a helluva lot more after seeing this game.

I dunno TDHeysus. I hope you are right. SC has a bye week before the Oct 17th showdown, just like we do, so it will be whoever plans the best. Two weeks to prepare for each team will make it pretty interesting.

I like what Ive seen in Clausen this year. My confidence with him grows with each game...if he beats USC, I will be in full BROMANCE mode with clausen

I believe our offense is one of the best, if not the best, offensive units in the country. No real flaws to speak of, other than Jonas Gray's ability to pass-block. However, our defense is where the glitch lies. It all starts up front, and people, we have real issues here. You wonder why we have been sending a linebacker on every play. You wonder why our Secondary is not as good as first anticipated. We have no consistent pass rush. Kerry Neal is not a defensive end, hell, he only got a QB hurry last game because his blocker picked up another man on an inside blitz. Kapron Lewis-Moore has only played 3 games and, other than him recovering a fumble against Michigan and stripping the ball from a Michigan State player (that was actually a good pursuit play), he has not produced. Ian Williams has produced when he isn't double-teamed. Has anyone even seen Ethan Johnson? I realize this unit is very young, but it is without a doubt our Achilles Heel of the 2009 season.

I still think this is a 10-2 team. I like the way the program is trending overall. This offense returns 9 starters next year. This defense will return 9 starters next year. As a program were are knocking on the door of perennial power status.

I just wish more people were excited about it.

I already am. It's especially nice, seeing as he was considered cocky, arrogant, overrated, etc. I really didn't think he could approach Quinn's stats, but he looks better than Brady at this point (early Jr. year). I think this confirms Weis' QB development skills. I will give him credit for that.

I still think our Irish can be a pretty good team. We really need to shore up the Defense. They're the ones who are going to decide if the team can get to where they want to be. Our Offense will still be very good. Losing Floyd hurts a lot, losing the best WR in the nation always will, but these young guys have a ton of talent. Jimmy can make them better because he will put the ball exactly where it needs to be. The last two weeks have been pretty frustrating, but a big win Saturday night will go a long way toward getting everybody pumped up about Irish Football again. Go Irish!
