Man, guys, I love ND just as much as you, but do you really believe everything your typing, or is just optimism to get everybody in a good mood?

I would love nothing more than the Irish to be in the NC game, shit who wouldn't? But I try to keep things more realistic, I find that if I do that, I won't be so unbelievably upset as I have in years past.

I just dont see a team that losses double digit leads, loses to syracuse at home on senior day, can't get a first down against USC until the 3rd Q and can't cross midfield until the 4Q, winning 11-12 games.

Do you really expect the team to improve THAT much with pretty much the exact same players? Yes, I know they have had a year to mature but seriously. The only reason I see us winning more games than last year is because we are a little older and the teams on our schedule are a little younger. We are still gunna have those 1 or 2 games that things just don't go right. As for USC? I just hope we don't get embarassed again at home.

To be quite honest I think the 05 '06 team was better than this years squad. I expect this team to get 9 wins. Anything less is a terrible season. More than 9 wins would be a great season and would exceed most peoples expectations.

If I could only say 3 things why we will be better, they'd be:

1) Experience all over the field.

2) Verducci

3) Clausen and the receiving group.

The great thing? I could seriously list 10-15 more reasons why we'll be better, and it wouldn't be Kool-Aid talk, it would be real. I still say 10 wins, but I think the defense will better than '05, and therefore could POSSIBLY be better than that team.

HOWEVER, I feel what you are saying. It's all about this year's motto: show me...

No, No, I'm not saying title game what I am saying is that it will be obvious they are becoming what THEY want to be, and that will be what we all want, next year maybe title game but the talent ,coaching and maturity are now in place. I will be shocked and tell you guys on this site that I was wrong and not as informed or smart as I thought if they dont win 10 games. I will apologize and take my medicine. My judgement lies in 2 areas, o line and the practices are becoming as competitve as a game. When this happens they are ready for Sat and bonded because they have beat the hell out of each other. By the way 2 loses but one of them wont be USC, I think they win that game. There is no reason to back that up other than I sense they are going to be very good this year and it is time. I have been telling alot of friends this the last 2 months and honestly they have laughed in my face, no problem-cause right now its just opinion. Sept 5th everyone will see a much different Notre Dame football team come out of that tunnel, and I remind you that Nevada is a good team. The score will not be as important as how they played and what people will see with their own eyes.

Watch what you say. You might be called a traitor around these parts. I expressed this sentiment, oh, about a year ago. And while everyone else was calling the SDSU debacle "opening game jitters", I predicted a less than stellar year. I was villified and berated for it.

ha ha I feel ya. I just like to keep things real and sometimes people don't want to hear it. It's understandable. If ND wins 10+ I will be just has excited as everyone on here. But if they win 9 or less, I won't be as disappointed as everyone on here will be. I think it calms the mind and heart better that way thus leading to a less stressful season.

Then when I try to explain that is how I feel when talking to a Michigan or OSU fan they just say I'm being a sore loser because I'm not depressed and crawling into a hole because my team didn't live up to expectations.

So fuck it, let's go 12-0, lol.
