Being recruited By Ianello. Another Illinois kid, looks good on film and plays well against the pass. I'll post his highlight video. Don't know illinois football so can anyone tell me how good Naperville is?

Naperville North is a big school and typically very good. They play in the DuPage Valley Conference, which is one of the best in the state if not America (Taylor Graham, Ohio State QB verbal, attends Wheaton North and they are in the DVC).

I've been told Lifka may have had an uncle or two attend Notre Dame, but I haven't seen anything to confirm that. The kid is the real deal. To start as a sophomore for this program in this conference is an accomplishment. They're typically so good that it is hard for underclassmen to get to the varsity.

Greg Dingens '86 and Matt Dingens '88 both former defensive linemen are the brothers of Nick's mother.

Greg Dingens is on the board of directors of the ND Monogram Club.

Played DT for Faust.

Saw this young man play last night in Naperville North's 22-14 loss to Christian Lombard and Fremd. He's a beast, folks.

9 carries for 65 yards and a TD, plus a 7 yard TD catch. Defensively, he was very active. I think he had 8 or 9 tackles by halftime. He's a good runner and would make a nice fullback or inside linebacker.

If Eastern Illinois is the only offer he gets, they're getting a steal. My football sensibilities tell me he'll be getting many more and is probably close.

Glenn Earl, Chris Brown and Justin McCareins all went to Naperville North. Typically Wheaton Warrenville South and Naperville Central are stronger teams in my opinion, but the Conference is very strong and North's educational opportunities are top notch.

Looks as if the 2011 midwest offer sheet for ND will be loaded with playmakers. Great to know he is a legacy!

Here to hoping we can pull this kid in if kelly sees what he wants in a LB in him. Time will tell, it seems kelly is being a little more hesitant than Weis was with the early offers. About half of the 2011 offers out there i dont think were made by kelly, but by Weis and Company.

A rival football coach who played under Lou at ND said this kid is the real deal and a possible high level D1 player. I really want this kid to come to ND.

Definitely brings a load, I think I remember only once in the highlight he was taken down by only one player. Hits well and wraps up. Keeps his head up in coverage, not the greatest hands but if he keeps batting up the ball our CB's could have a big year, and thats always a good thing :D

I really like this kid as well but it will take Kelly a while to get on all these kids. Alford was there to fill him in on Florida but hopefully Lifka will get an offer. (should of kept Polian, i'm just sayin)

That's a sign that it's EARLY in the recruiting process if those are the only (2) "big" offers he has, especially if IU is considered in anyone's top offers .... they're pretty terrible!

It is early but you need to look at the post made an hour before your's rather than refer to one from a couple of weeks ago.

TY for the response.
I was hopeing for one for him, he looks like a good player coming off blocks and taking the runner down, not to mention when he drops back in passing.
But hey Kelly knows what he's doing and I will support him than the IRISH :D

I doubt he will get an offer anytime soon. I am not sure if the staff is courting him at all but he will be a backup plan. I do like his film so im hoping there is room for him but with so few schollies this year Kelly has to be picky

Added offers from BC, Vandy and WMU. Still working on getting an ND offer. Willing to do whatever it takes.

Nick Lifka has been to Notre Dame enough that he could probably get there blindfolded. The linebacker from Naperville North High School (Ill.) recently had a chance to come to South Bend to meet the new coaching staff and see the changes they’ve made to the Notre Dame football program.

At this point in the recruiting process it’s difficult to tell how many linebacker the Irish staff plans to take in the 2011 recruiting class, but they’re keeping tabs on several top prospects. Nick Lifka (6-foot-2, 230-pounds) is one of them and he was at Notre Dame for the junior day on March 20.

“I went to the junior day to meet the new staff,” Lifka said. “The junior day went well. I wanted to get in and see the changes that they made and meet the coaches face-to-face. They seemed very excited about being at Notre Dame. They were very enthusiastic and very confident. They seemed young and ready to get at it next season. I kind of felt excited about it and I’m looking forward to seeing them play next year.”

Lifka had been recruited by the former Notre Dame staff, but it appeared their interest waned. With the new staff in place, Lifka feels like he’s got another chance to land a scholarship offer from the Irish.

“Through the recruiting process, I think the old staff had ruled me out, so I kind of figured that I had gotten lost,” he explained. “With the coaching change I’ve had to start over. I actually think the new coaching staff likes me more than the old one, and they seem like a good group of guys. So I’m pretty excited about everything.

“My next step is to get to know the coaches a little bit better. I’ll try to call them once a week just to stay in touch. I really don’t know where I’m at with an offer from Notre Dame. Hopefully they’re planning on it, but I can’t really say at this time.”

The 2011 recruiting class seems to be littered with prospects that have a connection to Notre Dame and you can add Nick to that list.

“I had two uncles that played at Notre Dame, Matt (’85-’86) and Greg Dingens (’82-’85),” he said. “I went to a number of games when I was little. I’ve been over there a lot. I went to the spring game last year, and I went to the Boston College game last year, I’ve been to their summer camp as well. So I’ve actually been to Notre Dame a number of times, and I know it pretty well.”

Nick currently holds scholarship offers from LSU, Indiana, Western Michigan, Eastern Illinois, and Ball State.
