Baldwin has an offer list that rivals anybody else in the Midwest with powers like Illinois, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and West Virginia already on board. Baldwin is built like few others with a great 6-6, 240-pound frame.

Well we miss out on our 6'6" Baldwin in the '08 class. Maybe this Baldwin will be different.

Baldwin's tour continues

Defensive end Darryl Baldwin (Solon, Ohio/Solon) has had Ohio State at the top of his list almost from the beginning of the recruiting process. But he wants to check out his top options before he makes a commitment.

The 6-foot-6, 245-pound Baldwin has scholarship offers from over a dozen schools. He visited Michigan State and Michigan at the beginning of the week, and Notre Dame in the middle. Those three schools have all offered and present the biggest challenge to Ohio State, who Baldwin plans to visit on Friday.

He's visiting Penn St. this weekend and then camping at Ohio St, then making his decision. ND was on the outside from the start. Two months ago when he tripped to UM, MSU, and ND in a week I took it he was just crossing the t's and dotting the i's to confirm his foregone decision to become a Buckeye. But no announcement.

No, I worded it poorly. Penn St. is behind OSU, but they are also behind Michigan, Mich St and perhaps ND. I looked at PSU's recruiting, and they haven't even offered him yet, which could explain why he is going to camp there. Sorry about that...

No, it wasn't poorly worded. I just didn't realize PSU was in the game. He could be going to earn an offer. OR maybe, Darryl's working on building Star power.

Regardless, it would be a surprise if he ended up in faxing an LOI to ND.

6/15 Bill Kurelic ESPN reports Balwin 6-6 265 camped at OSU Sunday and ran a 4.75 and 4.78 40 and was impressive in drills. Balwin has narrowed his decision down to OSU PSU MSU and ND. On Friday he visited PSU but OSU has a slight edge at this point.

Per ESPN: ESPNU 150 Watch List defender Darryl Baldwin set to announce Sunday
Solon, Ohio coach Jim McQuaide told ESPN affiliate Web site Bucknuts.com, "As of (Wednesday) night he would like to announce his decision on Sunday. We start our practices on Monday and he wants to get it done before that."

"Could he say on Sunday, 'I'm just not ready?' That could happen. But I don't think it will. I think he is ready. We have talked every night this week and I think he will announce on Sunday."

"It's still down to those four schools (Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State and Notre Dame). Michigan was in the mix, but they would be fifth right now."

welcome to IE NDinMemphis. It would be a complete shock if we landed this guy, even though i would very much like to. He seems like a hell of an athlete, in a school full of athletes. Played against solon a couple times in the eastern ohio bball camps. those kids are athletic freaks. Hope we get lucky.... we did get him on campus at least once didnt we?

LOL. Of course, he'll probably tell you that he already has 2 such lunches lined up and that you'll have to come back next week.

It's not happening with this kid. We're their only to make his list look better, and to keep the interest high. I have zero interest, since the whole world knows he's not coming to ND.
