TE Joseph Fauria has nor reported to ND is not enrolled in summer classes.
This really hurts our TE depth, and it puts a ton of pressure on Ragone, who is coming off a major injury. Fortunately, Tyler Eifert has put a ton of work in during his offseason, and is up to 240 pounds. He wants to contribute right away. Golic might even have to be ready in case of more injuries.
The disappointment is that it takes away a lot of what we wanted to do offensively. 3 TE sets, with a 6'7" burner that could be a matchup nightmare. If Ragone is healthy though, and if Eifert is ready to contribute, this won't be as much of a loss. Plus we have perhaps the top TE in the country in Rudolph, a future All-pro on Sundays IMHO, so that helps.
Rumors are flying about the reason, but nobody really knows. My lady knows someone at ND, and she was told that he had some discipline problems in the dorms, but she didn't hear that it was anything major. That's all I know. Hope he's OK and can get his head straight. ND has allowed many football players to take a year away from ND and return to play ball...
EDIT: I forgot about TE Bobby (Ham) Burger, a walk-on transfer from Dayton I believe, whom Weis raved about all spring long. Kid might jus get his shot...
