Cierre Wood up to 217 lbs?

if this is the case and not a misprint, looks like Cierre is gonna be this years Floyd. Floyd added about 20 lbs of muscle before his freshman year. I hope it's true because Cierre is a beast.

During last recruiting season several analysts didn't think Wood would be a Div 1 RB they thought his future was elsewhere quite possibily Safety. ESPN's description reminded me of Tony Driver who struggled at TB until he accepted Safety where he played well.

At 217 now he be a solid Div 1 Safety. If continues to develop in the weight room he could pump his way into a Robert Hughes type of Back. Hughes arrived at 5-11 228. (Look out Cierre Charlie's looking for a FB) or he could even grow into a LB. Lots of possibility.

He and Martin are setting the mark for their respective classes.

This kid is a dynamic back, saw him and he reminds me of knowshon Moreno. Hope the weight he added so quickly does not affect his athleticism but he could be a special running back. ESPN's rankings i find suspect sometimes

I've never see him play. One of the things that stood out to me was his combine shuttle time that 3.94 is in the neighborhood of the shuttle times Joey Getherall ran in HS combines. Even if it was a "quick" stopwatch it's still an impressive time. One you would associate with a fast CB.

hes more quick than fast. Not like Darius Walker, Wood can break em to the house, but he is very agile

I know a lot of people don't think so, but I think Wood is going to see the field in one form or another right away. I saw him a few times this past season and he is a special player. He also has the right frame of mind and a great work ethic. He is going to be very special for ND. Even if it is just on special teams at first, I think he sees the field right away as a frosh.

Yep. BGIF, Wood is in no way nor will he ever be, a Robert Hughes. He's much more of a make-you-miss RB, and the thing that I loved about watching him was his burst. Like jason said, he's lightning quick. I love the kid (platonically of course), and I think he'll be tough to keep off the field like GoIrish said. However, the way our RB's looked in the spring game, it'll be tough to give him carries over the other 3 ahead of him ---- IF they perform the way we hope...

I doubt he or Shaq Evans will play, unless he Moves to Safety, which i highly doubt, but u never know

I am still sticking to my prediction that he will be the biggest major impact freshman next year, not counting RS Freshman (Hafis will own that). Also the LS from St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida will start, but Cierre is your classic take it to the house RB.

I doubt he has gained 25lbs, unless it due to Doritos. That said, in a year or two, he will still be a RB, he is too good to be moved to safery.

Unless your lineman/LB type it's tough. And if you're a skill player you walk a fine line of comprising your skills. Speed and Flexibility.

The other point is, was it a year or was it 6 months? Are we talking his wt last December at the end of the season or last Spring?

Martin is trying to change his body type from LB to DE hence the poundage but that's a position where the weight gain is desireable.

And the more I think of it a HS kid adding 25 pounds who is not a lineman is questionable from a medical standpoint. Their bodies are still developing. Too much, too soon can be a problem for knees in particular. I don't know how old Wood is.

If you consider slamming foot long hotdogs and cheesefries all summer, then yes he "balked up". Boy was fat... not jacked.

Michael Floyd spent the last three months preparing for college football training with Performance Athletix and performance enhancement specialist Ted Johnson. Using the DNA Protocol, the results he achieved are nothing short of amazing! Michael had a net weight gain of 17lbs. He increased his bodyweight from 203lbs. to 220lbs. . Believe it or not, his bodyfat decreased as he gained weight. At a bodyweight of 203lbs., his bodyfat was 8.2%, at a bodyweight of 220lbs., his bodyfat was 6.4%! He weighed a WHOPPING 6.4kgs underwater. The most important variable I look for is (AT%VO2) Anaerobic Threshold as a percentage of ones VO2MAX test. Michael 's went from 77% to over 80% . Overall, he was able to increase his VO2MAX to 54ml/kg/min up form 50.3... remarkable.

Kamara was out ofshape which is why he was practicing in a linemans jersey. Michael Floyd spent the down time before reporting to Notre Dame training for college football which is what Cierre appears to have done. Not tomention that he was probably closer to 210 when he finished his senior yearthan 200.

you're probably right...as Rivals had that info going in to his senior year. Still a 217 lb Cierre Wood is scary. I really believe he's our RB of the future.

I can relate. When I graduated college 4 of us rented a house on the beach for a month before we all went off to work for the rest of our lives. One guys dad was a butcher who gave us a month's worth of hot dogs and burgers. The beer we bought on our own. I packed on about 15 pounds that month doing one arm can presses. We all waddled off to work.

Ok after reading this thread I had to post. The claims in this thread that a 17 year old kid can not put on 25 lbs of muscle in 12 weeks is ignorant.

I did it at 16 when I was playing football.

I had about a 3500 calorie a day diet while on a strict lifting program 3 days a week. Anyone that might try to claim it was fat I put on would still be ignorant of the truth. I played DB (not a lineman!) and ran about 50 sprints a day along with about 5000 stairs a day and 3 to 5 miles (twice a week on off lifting days). Anyone that works out regularly would recognize I was in a HIC program (high intensity cardio). HIC can actually reduce muscle mass. I actually gained 26 lbs despite my HIC workout. I also dropped about 4 percent body fat while putting on those 26 lbs. Anyone willing to guess the time frame I did it in?

I don't know if Cierre really was able to do it but I wouldn't say "it isn't possible". If you don't have the experience, don't be a know it all. Athletes often push the limits of the human body and that is why we appreciate them so much. Not just for their God given talent but for their work ethic to redefine their body and what it is able to do. A lot of you based the possibility of gaining 25 lbs of muscle in 12 weeks on what you know. What you know may be very limited in regards to this matter.The average person doesn't run 5000 stairs a day. My work out partner (and best friend at the time) put on 30 lbs of muscle while dropping 2% body fat in the same time frame on the same program. If anything it was more impressive for him because he was 6'4". Harder to do with a tall frame.


Sorry if this post comes across harsh but I felt it had to be seeing as there was so much conviction in the post that claimed it not possible.

I just wanted to win because it was fun. I worked my ass off and benched 315 and squatted 620 at age 16. I ran a 4.6 and weighed 165.

It doesn't take long to become strong if you do it correctly.

First, you need to want to improve. Next, you need to train smart, which includes letting the body rest and heal.

I'm not sure about the 50 sprints a day thing though, nor the stair climbing claim - how are your knees today?
