Well I know mine, it's the one that all the naysayers didn't eat crow about yet.....the fact that he landed Te'o when everyone said it couldn't be done.

Chryspy you are on target on that one. Manti is HUGE. (Figuratively and literally)

What I love about Charlie is when people doubt him he is at his best. No one thought Manti was going to be Irish and it would have been easier to give up and put our interest into Byron Moore or Jelani Jenkins or someone else. Not Charlie though. He tucked his nuts, put his eggs in Manti's basket and reeled him in.

Next year when we are kicking teams asses everyone is going to be talking crap about how we don't play tough teams. When we play USC that will be our chance to beat the big dogs and if we do they will still doubt us. I can't wait till Charlie wins that BCS game and all the doubters have to beg for mercy. That will be a sweet moment and I predict that it will happen in Jan. 2010...........................

like about Charlie

like about Charlie

I will start by reminding everyone that I questioned his ability to motivate college guys, he now has enough high energy coaches to take care of that, once again in the pros that is not a factor as they are paid to produce or you are gone, I have said all along that he is to be admired and is a STUD, ( see this year physically and emotionally ) , there is an article on Scout about Charlie that is right on the money and should be read, lastly get this I have a friend who is Penn State and he told me that this is a guy to be respected because like Joe he is real, honest, and sincere in his life let alone the football part of it, quality kids pick up on that and Notre Dame wants quality guys not signing day hat shows, Why on earth would a 5 star backer from the islands pass on USC, UCLA and come to Notre Dame, because as he said Charlie Weis is a great man, as I have said keep fingers crossed for BCS game this year and let this thing build, we are starting to get the players now we just have to win some games, I can hear the train coming, just cant see it yet.

Well if we handle our business against the "WEAKER" teams then let them cry.We could play the entire top 10 and beat them all and people would still whine. All I can say is tighten up your chin straps 'cause here come the IRISH !!!!!

I admitted it. See my post "Feed me crow". lol

Appreciate that man. Takes a lot to admit when you are wrong, but I'm sure you are way happier we did land Manti.

I can't wait for next season.

I love Charlie's arrogance as well.....it pisses people off.

Its easy to admit he is wrong when he was!! Lol. Don't worry NDOM, I had my doubts too when I keep hearing SC.. Anyways, CW has proven to be an elite recruiter but can he put it all together with his guys?? We shall see this upcoming year...I think we win at least 9 and have a top 5 class. This being a realist too.

I love that no matter what the circumstances are, even when people are calling for his head, both his knees are torn to shreds, and a special needs child at home, Charlie Weis works tirelessly for the University of Notre Dame. Landing Teo was a direct result of this. I believe that even greater results of this are coming in the future.

I love the fact that he's all Notre Dame Fighting Irish, all the time. He'd friggin' die for this university, just like many die-hard fans. The fact that he's an alum, that he gets what ND is all about, is great.

I also love the fact that he is a kick-ass recruiter.

And I love the fact that it looks like he's man enough to admit his mistakes and try to put the changes in that are necessary for this univeristy to return to glory. Hopefully the steam from the Hawaii win and the Hawaii recruiting win will carry this team to a great season in 2009...

Arrogance is Golden!!!!!!!!!!

Arrogance is Golden!!!!!!!!!!

I would have to agree wholeheartedly! His type of arrogance is what everyone hates about Notre Dame in the first place. It is what we all (fans) preach to people everyday. ND is a special place and we are entitled to be the best because of who we are. Any one of us that has attended a game has got that feeling. The one where you know God and all the angels are lined up to watch us play. Like the whole world is ours to win, and for years we went out and beat everyone.

Over the past few seasons we have been nothing short of a disappointment. We have been rebuilding and reloading. That is not supposed to happen at ND. We are better than that. That is every fan on this sites opinion. We don't stop and ask why we are better than everyone else, we just know. Knute knew, Ara Knew, Dan Divine knew, Lou knew, and Charlie definitely knows. We are ND and we are better than everyone else.

I think that Davies and Willingham are nice men and fine coaches. They never just knew. They woke up every morning with that taste of fear on their lips. Like if they lose Saturday the world will disown them. They went out and tried to keep the shadow of the past from catching up to them. That was their biggest fault, they never just believed.

Charlie walked in and believed with all of his being that he and this University were better than everyone and everything else. You and I began to doubt Charlie. We thought maybe, just maybe he is in over his head. Sneaky Pete got a last crack at Manti the Man Child and Charlie stood strong. I gave up, sold us down the river. Thought there isn't a snow balls chance in hell.

Then Manti said he was joining Coach Charlie Weis and I went absolutely ballistic. That arrogant son of a monkey smirked and went right back to work. Now we got him and now we will join our rightful place at the top of the world.

I wholeheartedly agree with ND in LA that Coac h Weis is a Domer and truly loves the University.
I believe that when he first took the job he thought it would be an easy transition from the pros to college. After Willingham, many cheered that New Jersey persona that many interpreted as "arrogance", the words of which came back to haunt him after the last two seasons. However, he quickly learned that there were some major differences and has spent the last four years essentially dealing with the trials and tribulations of what has been on-the-job training.
Through it all, and their have been some "painful moments" - literally and figuratively, has not been afraid to do a self-evaluation after each season and is smart enough to address criticism. Another constant is that he has been a tireless recruiter!
So, what I like best is his ability to make adjustments/corrrections. Hopefully, they will finally translate into what he (and we) so badly wants - a winning season and a BCS bowl appearance. If that happens, of course, he keeps his job and Notre Dame has a monumental recruiting class in 2010!

Chryspy. What's your point? The topic is "What do you like about Charlie Weis?" Did you read my entire post? Well, I like some of the same things others who posted mentioned. does that mean I can't express that?
I mentioned that what some perceive as arrogance is simply due to his New Jersey makeup (Did you note that several posters referred to his "arrogance". Is that not allowed? If not, did you call any of them on that?) He had and his mentor, Bill Parcells (also from NJ), came across that way. I observed it first-hand during his year's with the Patriots and was put off by it - until I became familiar with his personality. He's really a good person who is "more bark than bite."
I also made the following points:
1) He thought the transition to college would be smoother than it was.
2) His previous four years at Notre Dame have amount to on-the-job-training.
3) He has done a self-assessment each year in which he has made corrections and adjustments.
I didn't realize that my post was being critiqued. I didn't see the title, "Literary Gestapo" under your name. So, if you didn't like my post, don't read it!
Perhaps you should change your "handle" to Bad Manners. Most Boston fans - of which I happen to be - have a more positive, tolerant demeanor towards others than you seem to demonstrate!
Maturity and good manners come with age. Obviously, you have a long way to go!

What?????? Estrogen much? I didn't even talk smack. I just said, didn't we do that already 2x.....sometimes people say they want a winning season and a bcs berth and act like Charlie hasn't already provided that for them. Chill out man and have some more fiber, your talking like an old man...

Many years of experience have shown this "old man" that no matter what the circumstance - good or bad - there is always an opportunity to take advantage of a "teaching moment." So here goes: When some posts for the sole purpose of criticizing another, now THAT'S arrogance!
Furthermore, you're responses indicate that you need to change your moniker from "Bad Ass" to a more appropriate "Jackass."
As the lawyer says to the accussor after he has had enough of the verbal attacks of his client, "We're out of here!"

So you have had enough verbal attacks? I don't get it. By the way Accussor is not a word, it's accuser.....a lawyer would know that.

Did they teach you that at Subway University, it says your a subway alum.....Did Jerrod take courses there as well? 5, 5 dollar, 5 dollar foot long......

Ok, but in reality you killed the thread, I will try and start it up again.

I love Charlie and his decided schematic advantage.......and his shoes.

I like to post stuff I hear from folks about N D, here's a little bit of what I go thru down here in Ga, today a fellow told me that N D went to Hawaii to play a bowl game to impress Te'o, right like a tier 2/3 bowl game will impress the # 1 linebacker in the nation, he also said Weis should be fired, soon even that will die out, I'm not saying we compete for all the marbles next year but I will say this team will win alot-I mean like 9/10/11 games, the talent pool is getting huge and if people dont think Weis can coach talent then they are wrong, the guy knows what he's doing we just havent had the guns to fire, as I have said and if I'm wrong you guys can SLAY me next year if the O line does its job the scorboard will look like a pinball machine some games, the defense will be fine and getting better, you can cover up D line issues but you cant hide a poor O line, next year I say the O line does its job and we win big, I'll take my beatings if wrong, and as far as I'm concerned Charlie has my RESPECT.

Either I go to church and stare at the young lady in the third pew to the back left, or have a beer and crash.... hmmm.....

what i love about him is that he knows the team begins and ends with charlie. he knows that it is his lone responsibility to bring excellence to the program and when he doesnt he never puts the blame on anyone but him.

a lot of people have been saying they love his arrogance. i agree wholeheartedly. and what i love about it is the fact that he is one of two extremes, extremely arrogant, or extremely humble. and in his arrogance he is never rude.

oh and also i love the snot that runs down his upper lip and the white crusties on the sides of his mouth.

i love that we are going to win 11 games this year

Im so sick of this, assuming that the USC game is always a loss. Im not attacking you notredomer23 because I have been the guiltiest when it comes to doing this but it stops here. Last year a decent OSU team gave it to the condems. That USC team was a lot better than they are going to be this year. They lost some major contributers and have a freshman qb who hasnt taken one snap in college. I see us giving them all they can handle this year in SB. We have an experienced qb and major threats all over the place now. The days of me chucking up the SC game as a loss are over. Thats what I love about Charlie!

Hey man I love you it. You are right. I want so badly to say 12 wins. I know this team is capable of beating them and everyone else on the schedule. The thing is until we go on the field and beat them I just can't pencil it in a win until we prove it. We will beat them, over and over and soon. I agree that Charlie is the man and will do it.
