Competition brings out the best in players. It helps everybody get better and in turn makes the team better. Look at Chris Martin... why would he come to ND when we've had 3 years with studly LB recruits? The competition will make him better.

What's the downside to sitting on the sidelines for two years? You stay healthy, you still develop by practicing with some of the best talent in the world.

USC is pumping out millionaire professionals like a popcorn machine.

I don't understand these kids some times. U$C has a crowd of players at every position, why in the world would Starling and others even sign if they might not play. It's plain as day how many position players U$C has and how crowded it is there.

Is it because they want to be on a winning team, play part time or not at all? Both Moore and Starling should have signed with ND for an education and playing time. ND will rise again and very soon!

I'll respectfully disagree, somewhat. I do agree in the sense that I'm not sure that signing with a school that is so backloaded at their spot is such an intelligent thing to do. But I can see why they do it. Pete Carroll tells every recruit, and his track record shows it, that he plays the BEST players regardless of age. He puts the direct onus back on the kids. He tells them, "If you don't want to compete, or if you so think you're good enough to compete, then we don't want you anyways. But if you're as good as we think you are, then you'll compete for PT right away." He feeds off their ego, and these 5 stars and 4 stars eat it up. And as much as I hate to say it, it works. And he does get guys into the pros.

So I can't say I blame them for signing with $C, considering that most of these guys think they're NFL material. You and I don't think it's very smart, but I can't really say I blame the kid. He'll sit behind the best safety in the game, and then compete against 20 (LOL) other safeties for is spot.

I just wanted him so I could say his name for the next 4 years: JAWANZA!!!

I love this Starling kid. He has shyed away from the media and left this huge decision to he and his family. He never led Weis and his staff on and has always said that he wants to make the best overall decision for his future. I may not agree with his thought process but I respect any 18-year old kid who handles this kind of pressure in such a mature way. Not like that idiot Moore who doesn't seem to know what he wants. Either way, good luck at SC Jawanza, and I will save you a seat next to me 8 rows up on the 35-yard line in South Bend since you won't get to play against us anyways!

You can bet the bank that one of the 4 DB commits at USC will NOT make thru their 4 years. They will end up transferred to some other school. I know we lost on this one, but you can see by the USC de-commits that kids are starting to learn that sitting for 3 years behind 4 other high school all-americans is not always fun. I think we will win more and more battles.
