I guess you have seen the game film and the stats on this kid too right. I doubt it but I have done my homework on him and his is better than the two stars next to his name putting up 235 yards and 4 touchdowns on 31 carries is pretty damn good at any level he has hands but like his brother was he is will be a raw talent out of high school

Are you a scout? Does FL and Texas consult you when they they need recruits? I mean, are you for real? You know how many kids look like all stars in high school but don't get recruited? You know how many end up at JC's and then never play again? Do you really expect us to trust YOU over guys from USC, Texas, OK, Florida and Tennessee? Is that what you want us to do?

I watch a ton of high school football too, and I see guys that I think are stars but aren't highly recruited. I don't come on here with their stats however, begging ND to recruit them, because I'M NOT A COLLEGE TALENT SCOUT!!! And guess what bro, neither are you! YOU might think he's higher than 2 stars, but that doesn't mean jackshit to college scouts does it? And it doesn't mean shit here either.

Now, if you say that you think the kid is good and he should be rated higher that's one thing. But to sit here and say ND is making a mistake not going after a 2 star recruit that you are HOPING turns out to be an every down player like his brother (4 stars) is stupidity. THEY KNOW MORE THAN YOU. And they know way more than me too.

I mean, when did we turn into Western Kentucky? (Well, last year, but I digress!) Sorry, but I don't want ND to turn into that. Just because he's local to you doesn't mean you know that we should get him. Oh, and nice try with the argument about big programs not going to your neck of the woods. In case you forgot, ND went there...and got his brother! And Tennessee is there for sure, but they haven't offered him yet either. THERE'S A REASON FOR THAT!!!

Now, again, he may turn out to be a stud. That's the way recruiting works. Look at the colleges that T.O, Walter Payton, Jerry Rice, etc attended. But again, I'll take the word of college recruiters for USC (they recruit the nation wide), OK, FL, Tennessee, ND, etc over some guy behind a keyboard on the Internet. I don't know, I'm weird that way...

I don't care either way, but the kid is fast, his brother has talent. If you can spare the room, why not?

Do we really have room? I'm a novice at this, so I'm not sure we do. We offer him, and then Te'o says yes, then what? Say no to Te'o because this 2 star is fast? Take away the offer to tate and look like a-wipes?

Or do we have room for him, Jenkins AND Tate? What am I missing here? All this for a 2 star?

If you think we are landing either one or both of those guys I think you might be smoking some funny stuff.

Jenkins is a "smoking some good shit" recruit in the sense we are longer than a longshot to land him, but Te'o is another story. He's put us in his final list; by all accounts it's between us, USC and BYU; he was at our practices in Hawaii; he's said great things about us, etc. He's not that far off where one would say that you'd have to be on drugs to say we have a shot at him. In fact, you'd be the stupid, nay, moronic one to say we should give that scholly to a 2* instead of holding off on the top recruit in the nation who has us in his top 3. Yeah, that makes a ton of sense. Let's call Te'o right now and say 'thanks but no thanks, there's a fast kid in Tennessee who some Internet chat guys say is better than a 2*, and we're giving our last scholly to him over you.' Man Phork, for a guy who rips on ND for mediocrity every chance he gets, you sure as hell want us to stay that way.

Sypnotico is right; I'm through with this conversation. We all just don't agree, ehich is fine. You may have the last word...

I consider myself a scout. I'm young, but I read all the scouting stuff, and know how to break down a player. Wesley Tate is better than his stars, I'd be willing to accept this kid (if I were coach that is). But maybe he's just not what we are looking for. My feeling though is that since we've had transfers and don't know the status truly of Walls and Gary Gray, that we take a kid like Wesley. He's underrated, coming here he's going to work hard like his brother.

i'm sure charlie & co. are working their angles for late additions like kapron last year. i am anxious to see how it all plays out.

I just saw on Rivals we have an offer out to a 6'6 220 pound de from Illinois, offered him late but has us ranked amongst his leaders and is considering a visit. Michael Buchanan, I think is his name.

Michael Buchanan was offered and he has the frame to put on some much needed weight but at 6'6" 220 has a lot of work to do!

Here's a story which illustrates what I was talking about when I said we COULDN'T offer Tate a scholly. It's about Steve Spurrier having to pull a scholarship offerf from a kid who had already accepted:

Welcome to AJC! | ajc.com

It's horrible when you have to pull scholly offers in order to fit in a more highly sought player. Now imagine if it's your star's little bro. Now Spurrier looks like an ass and he (supposedly) can't recruit at one of the state's top programs...

If he has the competitive drive Golden seems to, I wouldn't mind an offer going to him at all.

Now that Golden is gone, here is one player i really wish we would have given an offer to. Hell, we offered a punter, long snapper, and others in this class, i just wish charlie would have thrown one his way.

Agreed. I don't think he did anything at Vandy this year, but Golden didn't really do anything for ND his frosh year. I really wanted Weis to offer him too.

He did redshirt, he would have at ND as well. I just think if he was half the talent Golden was, it would have been a good offer. Especially with Golden leaving early.

Yes he did red shirt, and he is still battling with some younger RBs there too. So he has his work cut out for him...... But the way he put it to me was that Weis wasn't going to offer him and he saw the depth we had at RB so he figured Vandy would be his best shot. He didnt seem too upset but he did sound a bit like he would have liked to be at ND!
