FASSST!! This guy shows some impressive speed in his highlights. He plays both CB and RB. His RB stats may not seem that incredible on the surface but you have to consider he is from the same HS as 2008 ND target Ryan Williams. Sharing time with Williams definitely cut into his stats, but over his career he has managed to average over 9 yds per carry.
He may lack the ideal size for CB or RB for that matter but this guy is an athlete. He has great vision and balance and appears to just slice through defenses. He could also be a special teams guru as a KR, PR, and kick blocker.

He would definitely seem to project as either the next-in-line after Armando as our speed back or a slot receiver. We are going after bigger CB's so I can't see us projecting him on defense.

It will be interesting to see what kind of jump he has as far as stats now that RW is gone from his high school. I hope he is tough enough to handle a lot of reps as the featured back with that kind of speed. Also wonder if Williams choice of schools will affect his....

Good point. It could really go either way...maybe they are good friends and he'll want to play with Williams at VT or maybe he feels he's been in Williams' shadow long enough and will go elsewhere (meaning ND).

I also forgot to mention that those combine numbers came from an event he participated in as a sophomore (4.34 ain't bad for a 15-16 yr. old kid). Rivals and Scout both have him as a 4-star prospect, but I didn't know how to put the nifty stars in the profile (mod help?).

We need to get this kid. He has legit speed and would be able to contribute on special teams right away.

Apparently Thiggy is not happy about Oliver going to UT (no not the one in Texas, but the other one, and no not Toledo where Michigan's season blew up)
Rumors are ND may have offered him after the Oliver thing. He is setting up a visit to somewhere this weekend. Things are crazy right now in the recruiting . world. Dude is super fast. Like Steve Smith on that ESPN commerical.

I heard there was a good chance UM wouldn't be making it to the Ohio State game.... they couldn't get past Toledo

It's between ND, Miss St, and UCLA, per scout.

I tell you what, and I say this as a UCLA (a distant #2 behind ND of course--I'll throw up if Manti picks them over us, but not as bad as if he chooses SC), but Rick Neuheisal is recruiting his arse off. He kept in tact last year's group (all 19 stayed on, which is super rare after a firing), and he's got some big-time recruits coming or at leats listening. This is not good for ND fans because we seem to be recruiting the same guys UCLA is getting many times. Add to that Stanford, and the job Harbaugh is doing, and CW's job has gotten even tougher the last 2 years...

As long as it makes Carroll's life hard i am all for it! We need all the speed we can get so this guy would be a good catch!

So then the question begs to be asked... Just exactly why are they choosing other programs over ours? What is the draw aside from the obvious things.

Other than easier academics,Warmer climate, thinner depth charts, or coaches who may or may not be on the hotseat. I can't think of any reason?

It's been confirmed that Ron Powlus visited their house and that the visit went very well. His dad said they are very interested in ND. However, he is going to take his visit to UCLA this weekend, and he wants to take his visit to ND afterwards. And that still leaves Miss St, meaning it's HIGHLY unlikely he decides on NSD...

On Rivals it now has him listed as visiting the Irish on Feb. 13th, so I'm guessing he won't be signing on the 4th.

I always feel better about our chances when the parents are so heavily involved. Doesn't always help, but in most cases it seems to work in our favor.

If it happens that the ucla trip doesn't blow his socks off, and the fax machine does not have him sending a commit to anyone, looks like we got em, and that takes alot of the sting out of the Oliver de-commit.

I watched his video and was very impressed. I'm really surprised that more teams aren't all over him as a RB. He seems to hit the hole at full speed. He probably won't be a star because of his size, but he certainly could carve out a nice role as a punt/kick returner, backup RB/3rd down back or defensive back...and we really, really need depth at this point. Go reel him in fellas!!!

but he could come in and be a return specialist!! You just can't go wrong there! with his size he would be like the rodgers bros at oreg. st.!! fast and hard to see behind the bigger guys!

theres no way id wanna come to nd right now as a rb.

why not? none of our running backs have proven they are amazing. just saying, there is potential, but we really dont have an all around great back. we have speed/quickness(allen) who goes down easy. we have slow but powerful (hughes). we have medicore speed/ mediocre power(aldridge). grays hasnt played much, think he might be better. but no one has proven they are the deserving starter at ND. all JMHO fellas.

i know i know, its all the lines fault. a great line can make an average back look good, but it can go the other way as well.
