While it's true that WR is a loaded position, Nyshier's skill set (quick and shifty) are perfect for the slot, so as much as we try to diminish the impact I think losing him is going to have an impact.

Disagree.... A incoming freshman rarely comes in and makes a impact. It takes some time for him to learn the aspects of college ball

WR is loaded yes but in order to reload instead of rebuilding in 2 years we need recruits like him. Any recruit is a big loss this late in the game! I am so sick of not finishing strong!!!!!

agreed. i dont want to have to rebuild at any position, just reload. and a player like Oliver could have been a good DB or WR, and probably just would have helped the team.

I didn't say anything about him playing right away, I said that his loss is substantial as he is a perfect slot receiver.

Here's an article from InsideTennessee.com explaining some things:

Scout.com: Oliver Twist Favors Vols

I did not know he wanted to play defense. Sounds like the ND staff saw him as a better offensive player, and recruited him as such. Tennessee is desperate for recruits so they took him for what he wanted to do. If our coaches didn't like him at defense, then I'm OK with it. They know more than we do, and he wasn't even ours to begin with. He even said he never stopped thinking about Tenn. I just hope we don't regret not getting him...

If he just couldn't stop thinking about Tenn. why decommit, everyone knows Tenn. is able to attaract good coaches. I'm glad this confused young man is not on our team. I bet once he heard he lost his offer he had to save face and came up with this " I always had Tenn. on his mind."

It's too bad we lost a great athlete, but let's face it, if the staff sees him working out best at WR and he wants DB AND he can't beat out other DBs...then ND's not the right place for him

LMI, I'll agree that it sucks losing a very fast athlete like Oliver, what really sucks even more is the fact that we could have used him at DB if that's what he wanted to play. We have Evans in this class, we have Goodman and Walker, who, as far as I know didn't play last year. So, I don't feel that WR is that big of an issue this year. I do feel however that next year will be a very good year for WR, and that we need to have at least 2 kids that can play CB every class.

i tell ya one person he surely isnt going to beat out of a DB position. Eric Berry, the guy is a freak. had like 7 touchdowns on defense this year if i remember right........ or maybe it was like 7 interceptions at one point, idr, but the guy is amazing.

Eric Berry would be a top 5 pick in the NFL this year if he could come out. He is the best Safety prospect since Sean Taylor.

Perfect...? Wow..Going out on a limb eh...? Here's something... He wants to play DB "which he clearly states..." Now why would he want to come to ND to play a position he didn't what? Oh.. Thats right.... His dad wanted him to go there.....BS.. This kid would have gotten caught up in the WR rotation. He clearly knew that and decided to go and play his postion of choice somewhere else. As far as perfect goes.....hell Tebow still fucks up...sometimes....
