He has the hottest name being mentioned on every Notre Dame site but why would he become our next coach?

Lets not think of him as our "savior" we never have and never will be desperate for a coach or player.

It's been 2 bad seasons but lets not conflict our values set in us by our Championship history just because we've had 2 bad seasons.

Championship History???? Its more like ancient history. Not to many people today, let alone the kids on the visiting teams coming into Rock's house have any clue about ND's golry years as it is slowy becoming lost to time itself. Kids coming to ND are more impressed with CW's NFL pedegree than the universities national championships. They were too long ago. So unless that changes soon we will continue into this abyss of "loserdom".

Yet another reason why ND should want Meyer to come to ND if CW gets the boot next year or even after the 2010 season.......Utah, an Urban Meyer franchise, just became the only undefeated team in the nation. co-champs? should be, but i doubt it. if that were so and Flordia wins, that would be two teams that meyer turned around that were national champs this year...... the guy is amazing.(Just FYI, those seniors out there who tore up bama were Meyers recruits)

Tick tock tick tock time will only tell my friend. He is just waiting for the right time. CW is lowering our schedule to put up some wins....... but unless he goes and wins BCS or against USC, he has yet to make a believer out of me.

I agree. He's hasn't beaten anyone, YET!

I think CW is just too arrogant to change. If I am wrong about his arrogance, and I hope I am, he will change the running game to an attacking run game with misdirection, etc.. This will obviously help the entire offense and give the D a rest.

Anyone know how far out in advance teams are scheduled? I had heard years but sometimes I wonder. If you think UCONN and Nevada are cupcakes you better think again. Uconn has the #1 tailback, gone after this year? Hope so.

He announced...he's gone baby, gone. Thank God. Although I always like to play a team at their best, damn that kid is nice.

I guess im actually wishing the UConn RB was still there..... he would help our schedule look stronger at the end of the season. We just should not have trouble beating teams like that IMO. With NDs level of talent, the experience on the team, and even just because we are Notre dame, we should beat them and beat them well. Even if they have good talent on their team. The only thing in question is coaching.

Changes are coming on the coaching staff, many on here have already mentioned prince as OL coach, but i expect more changes than that. And from what i have heard, dont expect the announcements of the new hires and the ones fired to come separate, i have heard they will all be done at once.

On a separate note, wonder if frazier will see any playing time for UConn when ND plays em.....that would be interesting, see how good of a QB charlie got rid of. He was a top 100 recruit back in his hs class(06) if i remember right.

Not sure if this had been posted but I got this from Fox sports:

"Urban Meyer still likes Notre Dame job"

Days after the radio interview, Meyer said as much: "Our staff has given our lives to Florida football for four years. We plan on giving our lives to Florida football for a long, long time. We start hearing, 'Oh, coach, I thought you said that was your dream job.' "I grew up in the North, and [Notre Dame] was my dream job. Probably always will be. That has nothing to do with this. This is the best job in America. I hope to be here for a long, long time. I hear that out there, and it's my fault." Meyer avoided the topic at BCS championship game media day. He declined to talk about the context of his "dream job" remark. Then, after agreeing that former Notre Dame coaches view the school as a special place, he would not say why. "Next question," he said with a small smile. Meyer,
described as devoutly Catholic and named for a pope, grew up in the northern Ohio city of Ashtabula, not far from the Pennsylvania border. In his authorized biography, "Urban's Way," Meyer said he turned down Notre Dame in 2004 because of the timing. With a young family, he didn't want to recruit nationally. "I wanted to go to Notre Dame," Meyer acknowledged in the book, "but my family wanted to talk about going to Florida." Meyer's oldest daughter, Nicole, is set to attend Georgia Tech on a volleyball scholarship. That leaves Gigi, 15, and his 10-year-old son, Nathan. So maybe in the next decade, the timing will be right. -- Chicago Tribune

he will be here someday, sooner than later if charlie sucks this next year up. its all a matter of time. that article doesnt have meyer saying anything about when the time is "right" or that he will never come to ND, so i dont take it as that. it does say that he thinks ND is special, without elaborating why. he loves notre dame, and notre dame loves coaches that win. thanks for the update Neutered.

Do you all really think it is nessasary to argue about the future of Urban? He has said it is his dream job(Notre Dame HC). He also had a chance and didn't come. When will you folks learn he is going to do what is best for him. It was UF then and if it becomes ND and he gets a chance he will come then.

It is harder to recruit here. It is tougher to schedule games here. The talent was all but depleated when Urban had an oppertunity to come. It would have been tough to get things going. He took the easy route. Went to where the talent was abundent. Where guys were beging to go. Went to a place where the spread would work majically.

There is no secret to what Urban does. He Wins, Right? Of course he does, or has, but do you really think that if ND had somehow convinced him to come here we would be going for a second NC in 3 years. Come on guys really? Give me a break he is not a god, he had great players when he got there and recruited more now he has a dynasty. He is a smart man and a great evaluater of talent and that is the sole reason he chose them over us, and if the situation was right he would come here, and then leave if a better situation came. We need someone that wants to be in it for the long haul. Maybe all our prayer would be for not and he would not be as great if he came here. Or maybe we would win 10 NC, in as many years. Which do you think is more likely?

1. Honesty.....yeah, he told Trattou if he came to Flordia he would play for a national championship team. Trattou believed him. I bet charlie told him the same thing. Whos farther down the dishonesty scale on that one? His players showed just as much class in winning as any other team i have seen, including my beloved irish.
2. Lower academics? seriously LMI, we are back to this again? you know i am just never going to agree with you on this one, along with many others.
3. Morals.....yeah he has had his players turn out real bad. You know, Tebow speaking in foreign countries and prisions about faith and God. Devote Catholic if you dont remember correctly.

And a biggy you forgot to mention...................winning! For the love of God winning. I like that one alot, maybe you dont.

Let me ask you all one question. If Urban Meyer had chosen ND do you folks think we would have two NC's?

If the answer to the question is no then what is so special about him? He does win everywhere he goes. UF was just in complete disarry when he arrived, wheren't they. The winning just stopped out there in Utah too, huh. Man I think we should crown him as the next savior. I think he could go anywhere and win, thats all he does, win, win, win.

That is what you all are saying, and to you I say wake up. Utah is still winning, and without him or his scheme. UF was a good program before Urban got there and there was plenty of talent and speed(which is all it takes to run a hs option spread), and he told recruits lots of lies to get them to go there. He told a QB out of texas that he was recruiting Tebow to play LB. Man Tebow sure turned out to be a great pass rusher. What a joke, he is far from a saint. He didn't come here cause he wouldn't have had success without hard work and that is something he doesn't want to do, work hard. I take nothing from him and if he signed on as the HC for ND I would be excited, but the one thing you will all see next year is that Charlie knows how to win with talent and experience too.

In my humble opinion, Meyer knew that Willingham had no talent coming in and he didn't want to put himself in a precarious position---Ego to some coaches is very important. Meyer would have been in a similar talent poor situation that CW found himself in, except for the saving fact that he had already been a HC, had his staff in place, (most importantly), and knew how to run a college team. CW is still learning how to handle these matters, and hopefully '09 will be a good year.

If I remember correctly he points out in his book that he wanted to come to ND. His family wanted Florida. He chose his family over his career. Pretty pathetic, huh? **please note the sarcasm** He doesn't coach at ND, but he may someday. Lots of people don't like Charlie, that doesn't make him all bad either. I'll support Charlie while he's here. But if he doesn't get it done and he leaves, I'll also support Meyer if he lands his dream job.

Agree. I really like charlie as a guy, and support him while he is here. but if he doesnt get the job done, then we have to look elsewhere. He hasnt got it done so far, and next year is critical for him to win and win big time.... If urban steps in, which could very well happen someday, i will be behind him 100% and actually hope he gets an offer if charlie gets the boot. GO IRISH!

Please he has straight out lied to recruits to get them to go to UF, I don't believe Weis does that. You think Meyer cares about academics as much as the University does? I don't, I think he would do anything to get players to come here even if it meant bending the rules. And yeah Tebow's a great kid, but how about you give his parents credit for instilling those values when he was a kid. But I guess then you should blame the parents of the UF player that stole a dead girls credit card, yeah great kid there. Look, I love ND football but I wouldn't want a coach that could even remotely tarnish what the school itself stands for just to win football games.
