Rivals.com College Football - Open coordinator spots starting to fill up

Notre Dame
The Notre Dame staff will be undergoing changes now that the Irish are done with their bowl. One change already has happened, with offensive coordinator Mike Haywood becoming coach at Miami (Ohio). Some feel defensive coordinator Corwin Brown may be the next to leave. There is talk Brown could emerge as a candidate for the same post at Syracuse under new Orange coach Doug Marrone; the two worked together on the New York Jets' staff from 2004-05. If Brown does leave, linebacker coach Jon Tenuta likely would become the coordinator.

Why can't @#%^ing Latina find a job outside the program if everyone else is leaving?

Mark my words, Latina is gone. And I pray Mendoza goes with him. Tenuta was more than likely brought in as a back up for when Brown leaves. It was only a matter of time before Brown got a head coach offer or another DC position.

Why would Brown leave for Syracuse? That's a step down in my opinion. If he does leave that would be a huge loss away from the field, he is a top notch recruiter. I just don't see how that move makes a ton of sense unless there are some underlying issues between him and Tenuta or Weis.

Going from Brown who is a top notch recruiter to Tenuta who pretty much does not recruit would not be good in my opinion.

mendoza is also the strength coach right? I heard Mike Frank on Power Hour one time say that our strength program really is a joke. Not only is the strength training weak but he also stated that they make the speed portion of training optional.

I would hate to see Brown leave.

I am very worried by this... Tenuta as a full on DC would be a disaster... Brown made strides last year with VERY little to work with... I love Brown, ND has to do everything nec. to keep Brown in the fold imo

Why should Powlus go? Didn't Jimmy go 22 - 26, and thus it is his coach's fault?

I slept through the game

ND fans - stay patient for a few more months. I think ND football on to something. Give or take shitbird CW adding some misdirection... :)

I can see why you may be worried but here's the thing. IF Corwin Brown DID leave than John Tenuta would be defensive coordinator yes. Is that a bad thing? NO WAY! John Tenuta is a proven defensive mastermind and would make Notre Dame ALOT better defensively than they are now or have been in a LOOOOONG time!

Now with that said....Do I like Corwin Brown? Yes. Is the defense getting better? Kinda. You see what I'm saying??? I feel that with the two of them calling plays etc etc I'm kind sensing that tension. Not a bad thing but I cant see Tenuta just being a linebackers coach.

Time will tell, but John Tenuta will be our defensive coordinator some day soon and when that happens I think that will be one of the final pieces to the puzzle. Thats the day when teams will once again fear DAME!

you can't argue with the success that Tenuta had at Georgia Tech and Ohio State - however, I am not necessarily comfortable with someone who is outspoken about his dislike of recruiting. Especially in light of Corwin's recruiting ability, I hope the set-up stays the same.

The defense isn't really getting better b/c they still don't have a lot of talent on the field in the front 7. The staff has missed on a lot of their targeted recruits, especially on the defensive line, which has translated into no pass rush for the past several years. Perhaps contradictory to my previous point, I don't think Jappy Oliver is a great coach and i believe he will join Haywood at Miami (OH).

did you notice the difference between us and usc? i'd say our strength training is a joke just on observation of our players performance.
