women's soccer advances to the finals on Sunday at 2 after beating Stanford today, 1-0. They'll play either UCLA or UNC. 1 more game to go in the great careers of Kerri Hanks, Brittany Bock and Carrie Dew... and one thing that has yet to be achieved- a championship.

Go Irish!

The game is Sunday at 2 in Cary, NC (so UNC will have the home crowd, but we already beat them once in Chapel Hill this year). It is being televised on ESPN2.

UNC is too good a team for the NCAA to give them home field advantage all the time and for the refs to be such homers. Those offsides calls were autrotious and the penalty that led to the goal was questionable at best.

They never got their championship, but Kerri Hanks, Carrie Dew, Brittany Bock and the other seniors all had great, great careers.

Definitely agree with the comment about playing the final 4 in Cary, NC. There are plenty of other places to play that are warm.

Hate to complain about the refereeing (as I referee soccer games and it is MUCH more difficult than it looks) but the referee impacted the game more than he should have. The free kick given just outside our 18 from which UNC score their first goal was a no-foul. Even Cat Whitehill agreed it was a no-call. The offsides calls that weren't offsides, and then the no-call in the box at the end of the game that could easily have been a PK. While perhaps none of those calls (except some of the offsides) were particularly egregious, there definitely was a pattern today that favored UNC.

In any case, we can be proud of our team! What an absolutely fantastic season they had. In my book they are all champions.

Dammit. Not the knife in the heart I was looking for... (I was looking for another kinda knife through the heart...)

Why does ND always play in enemy territory?

Great job ladies on a great season.

2-1. ND scored in the first minute of the game, UNC scored on a direct free kick at the start of the second half and then scored again in the last 3 minutes of the game.
