It would kind of be nice to play it before we judge it. I think it is quite a ways off. Lot of things can change between one season and the next. Alabama was 6-6 last year and the year before. I know, I know it was the SEC but look where they are now.
the SEC sucks ass!
Our schedule is so favourable it's pathetic. How we got 7 home games and 1 nuetral is beyond me but i'll take it. I think next year our team will have something to prove!
Here is a prediction for ya! Irish go undefeated (yes even USC). USC has two losses, down year for them. Since we had the 7 home games and the one neutral site, ESPN annoints us the new Boise St. or Ball St. We still get no respect, and have to play a 8-4 Ga. Tech team in the Peach bowl and win that. Get ranked 6th in the country behind 2 one loss teams and 2 two loss teams including USC. Florida wins the NC against Oklahoma again.
You bring up a good comparison with Alabama but what does the SEC have to do with it? It is a great competitive conference but it is college football no matter how it's sliced. I live in Memphis and am sick and tired of SEC this and SEC that. I am really catching shit since it owns number 1 and 2 presently. Hats off to Saban and Meyer, they have excellent football programs and deserve everything they have right now. I think Tuberville got the shaft but again, College Football has no mercy! I look forward to our first game next year vs. Nevada and then on to the rest of the year. I'm ready to put this and last year behind. It will be interesting which bowl we go to.
Go Irish
Dizzy
First game will tell a lot.

I think 8-9 wins too depending on the Pittsburgh game (could go either way) and whether or not Sarkisian pulls a rabbit out of his hat at Udub.

7-5 and Charlie is fired even though he improved on 2008 by one game.
ND can't beat MSU. That makes them 6-6. I think that they'll beat Washington (at home) and I'm sure Ty doesn't have the recruits stockpiled (based on his ND record), but I think the Stanford could be an ass-kicking in the waiting ... playing out there.
Either way, I think it's a forgone conclusion Charlie is gone after year five.

I feel you, but I'm HOPING that he can do to our upperclassmen what he did his first year at ND. I'm still holding out that very slight (albeit fading) hope that he didn't get lucky his first 2 years, and that he really can coach. Call me a glutton for punishment, but I'm gonna watch every minute of every single game next year with the belief that we will return to national prominence.
God still performs miracles right???

I was actually commenting on the SEC because I knew someone would say "WELL that is different, its an SEC schedule". I agree that college football is college football. You never know until you play the game. I think that was my whole point.
I think we're going to lose to Michign, Pitt and Stanford. I see another 6-6 season in the works.
Really? College football is college football, huh? So you're telling me that an SEC team who week in and week out plays Top 25 teams isn't any better than a Big East or Big Ten team? Florida, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee (most years) and Alabama are all excellent teams and four of the five have won the National Championship at some point in the last 20 years. Even the "cupcake" teams--Ole Miss, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Mississippi State are better than a lot of teams across the country.
You might be sick of hearing SEC but the reality is that the SEC and Big Twelve (where they play no defense) are deserving of their notoriety and acclaim.
The SEC is the best conference in college football and when you win that conference you have truly accomplished something incredible.
What do you think ND's record would be if we were in the SEC? How about Penn State or Ohio State? Even Texas, Oklahoma or USC? Don't tell me that college football is just college football because it plainly is not.
I'd rather he didn't get fired because that would mean next year is a failure. Although I know, even if he is successful, people will still call for his head. You wouldn't believe how many Sox fans root for the Sox to have a bad season because they want Francona fired. Two World Series in five years--after none in 86 years--and people think he's a lousy manager. The world is never in short supply of ingrates!
THANK YOU!
There is some real delusional thinking going on here. 12 - 0 predictions? REALLY? 9 games? Really? Sorry, but I've seen regression for two straight seasons, and trendlines are pointing down still. Michigan will be better (shoot, if they don't hand us the ball in the first half, we'd have lost that game to McGuffie all by himself if you don't remember). Pitt and State are losses, and we'll probably lose an embarrassing one to one of the Washington teams ala Syracuse. Of course, BC and SC are auto losses - they just are always better prepared for a game. Who knows what will happen with Nevada, PU and Stanford - teams in flux with lots of decent players and potential - but with coaches far more likely to actually develop them.
I think we're going to lose to Michign, Pitt and Stanford. I see another 6-6 season in the works.
Michigan? Seriously? Did they magically create another Pryor? There is no way we lose to Michigan next year!
