I can't believe no one wants this job anymore. The time table tells you all you need to know about what happened here.

I have only this to say. If Charlie Weis doesn't win 10 games next year and they still don't fire him - I am taking the 2010 season off.

show me some proof. this post is stupid. i don't think the cincinatti coach would've been our first and only resort other than taking charlie back. plus why would ND start there? you know they would be looking into higher profile names like urban meyer, and bill cowher. in the amount of time it took them to decide they want weis back, thats exactly all that happened... they looked back and decided to take weis back. a couple days, and you think they had time to get in with the cincy coach and find that he didnt want the job? when really what happened is that Swarbrick and Weis were in Cali over these last few days, and they had some deep discussions leading into the decision that our Irish will be led by CW next year. what a fucking ignorant post, show some fucking substantial evidence and then i'll shut the fuck up

From the get-go ND said they were going to go over everything after the season. Everything else is speculation. It's like everyone got so worked up from the rumors that they started to believe them. When it didn't happen, all the sudden the University handled it poorly, according to some. They did what they said they were going to do.

I disagree with you, I think a lot of coaches want the job, they just don't want the responsibility. With the plus comes the negative and the HC is always in the spotlight. Lou always talked about how hard the job there was as HC compared to any other college.

They wouldn't have left Charlie dangling for 3 days unless they were shopping for head coaches. They shopped for filet mignon and were laughed at. So, they even looked at some nice lean ground beef in Cincinnati. But, nothing was available, so they decided to stay with ground chuck (I do note the irony).

It'll all come out. No doubt about it. My only hope is that the last week and a half had some humbling affect on the megalomanic that is our head coach. If that happens, maybe all is not lost.

How did they leave him dangling? They said they were going to go over everything step by step after the season: grades, games, etc. Weis is still under contract and went on a recruiting trip after the USC game. On that trip he told players he was going to be back. There are no tea leaves here to read.

Kind of like Weis would be fired on Monday at noon? You better stick with your day job.

I agree. But I also think that something needed to have been said sooner. IMO if things don't pan out with Charlie, Brian Kelly will be the next coach at ND.

Hey genius. What did they have to go over for 3 days? Uh, season not good enough. That took 3 seconds.

They were shopping for a head coach and when no one great was available they settled on giving Chuck another year. Any other conclusion would be contrary to the record.

I am not even going to respond to midwestguy anymore. Even when he is proven a fraud he still runs his mouth and thinks he is always right.

Peace fellas.

What record? Opinion posted as fact is still just opinion. Even a genius knows that.

If this experience leads to Charlies's humbling and turns into emotion so he can inspire his players and coaches then we might be Ok. This is the first season that I can remember since Lou that we competed in all but one game and our defense and special teams did nothing to embarrass themselves at USC. We were so close to winning 9 games and could have very easliy won many of our other games alot more impressively. I think the team next year would compete and win all the games they lost this year (except of course for USC) and wins the other games more convincingly. I say we come out and kick some ass and take a few penalties for it to set the tone for the team's demeanor going forward.

Not to nit-pick, but it actually isn't irony. It's just a play on words. Irony is the guy giving a talk about teen violence and leaving the lecture hall and getting mugged by a bunch of teenagers. Just sayin'...

wow we couldnt even get the coach

wow we couldnt even get the coach

I see three huge problems that must be changed for the positive ( meaning they are negatives ). First and formost decide by poll or general feelings or whatever way you want to do it but decide if you want to have a national power football team. If not join the MAC or Ivey League. Secondly allow the type of player in to help this process and do the best you can to give him the great education ND can provide but tell him if you screw up your gone ( no 2nd chances ). Paul Hornung was right where he was wrong was using race as a descriptive, he should have just said the "quality athlete". Not all of our great players from the past are Rhodes Scholars but they all went to class and tried. Third get away from NBC as fast as you can-it is KILLING us- they are there just to poke negatives at a once proud football program. See the article on ND Nation about missing the target on what is a real problem. I quarantee you that there plan next year is to promote the train wreck as they dont give a #%$^%@ about Notre Dame. Charlie Weis did his best we are all aware of that. I dont really think he is the major issue anymore because after next year he's gone. They will not win ten games and after about 3 games this will all start over again. The real question is what does Notre Dame want and what identity do they want to present. I'm good either way and as a admirer of the program will respect whatever decision-JUST MAKE ONE

Well you could say that since Chuck had a stellar running game, and clearly Chuck is a slang for Charlie... Ground Chuck is kind of ironic.

Aren't you the one who said Clausen was AWESOME and was going to lead us to a NC?

How'd your predictions work out?

Just for the record einstein, the words "Jimmy Clausen will lead us to a national championship" never were said or typed by me. Making shit up just adds to your already stellar credibility.

Lets also keep in mind JC still has 2 more years to prove us wrong. You on the other hand have already been proven a fraud.
