The only real thing that gives me hope in this area is Michael Floyd committing to us after his visit, after the 38-0 shellacking USC game last year.

Why dont we let him decide for himself, as opposed to some of us deciding for him.

Seriously. It was one game. Its a shame our "fans" acted like 12 year olds..People are forgetting that CW didn't hold their d-lineman...there were numerous holds that costs us numerous yards, points, and eventually the game...that holding penalty called after AA ran it down to the 1 yard line was called back...it would have been game over...easy win. Blame definetely goes onto Weis but blaming him for everything is childish...Manti knows we have talent just like all of us...its a matter of putting it all together which we havn't...obviously.

Yeah.... I'm sure he wants to get hit by snowballs and get booed...

bluegraysky has a great post regarding the snowball fiasco. it's worth a read for anyone who wasn't actually at the game. remember that many stories about ND have a sensational element.

strictly rumor! But, i've heard reports that Manti and his father left the game at halftime very unhappy. Can anyone confirm this?

I wouldnt be surprised at all. I wouldnt want to come to Notre Dame after that pathetic showing. I would rather be in sunny warm Southern California! Oh did I mention that Usc actually is good too?

Hey folks,
As for the hope that he commits like Floyd did after a bad loss, there is a huge difference between those two. First, Floyd was basically down to us and OSU. Both midwest schools. Second, he was from MN where it snows a ton. Third, we got beat by USC who is one of the best schools in the country, vs Syracuse who is arguably one of the worst. Fourth, we had an excuse of playing all youth and no talent. Fifth, the fans were much more hospitable and mature last season. Finally, CW was definitely gonna be the coach, but now he is maybe weeks from unemployed.
Say goodbye Manti!!!! Good luck in CA!

Manti is still a longshot, but he was never better than that.

In all honesty, he should go to BYU. U$C will try to stop him from going on his mission...count on it.

Just read the article... Bottomline... Players were hit and I'm sure Manti and his father thought is was bullshit. It may not have been the entire student body, but those few people could have ruined it for us all. I saw an article on scout about Manti's visit. Does anybody with a membership have the "low down"?

Someone on the Rivals board said that they met Manti, Byron, and Gaffney at the drummers circle at midnight on Friday before the game. he claimed they all said they were having a great time. he also said that he was sitting by the tunnel the whole game, and saw Manti run back into the tunnel after the game was over.

I read it. It didnt say anything earth shattering. He said he enjoyed his visit, thought the facilities were outstanding, liked the coaches, and didnt mind the cold. But nothing that leads me to believe a commitment is imminent. Nor do I believe we are eliminated. He said what you would expect a commit to say after a visit.

I read that he watched the first half of the game in the stadium, but then watched the second half from the warmth of the Gug. He said it was cold, but by the end of his stay he was used to the temperature. I took it that the cold wasn't a factor for him and it would be an experience for him to have a change in climate like that. I thought it sounded positive.

Take it for what it's worth, I know someone who talked with Manti's father said he enjoyed the trip even though they lost and the cold took some time to get used to. Said ND is still in the mix, but I personally doubt he ends up here.

Charlie is back, so back to recruiting. Hopefully teo thought very highly of the visit, cause i hope he wasnt watching the SC game. or maybe he did and seen the potential for playing time.....oh well, who knows, just glad we are still in the hunt for the guy.

I just can't see him picking ND over USC. The coastal schools have such an advantage over us. I would love to see Manti in Blue and gold, but for some reason my gut tells me hes gunna go cardinel and gold...:banghead2

but ill keep praying:pray:

I dunno, I think we might be surprised with this kid. From what I have read, he strikes me more of a bigger picture kind of guy. I just get the impression he can look past weather and other minor factors and see things like the benefits of spiritual life, academics, and personal growth. Maybe its just wishful thinking, but this kid just seems like he is a different type of kid and wise beyond his years. I could be wrong, but that is just the feeling I have gleaned from reading about him.

The early playing time argument actually favors the Trojans since they are losing all of their starting linebackers, whereas we only lose Crum. Not to say he couldn't start here right away (he probably would), but the starting linebacker jobs will be open at USC.

Yeah i dont think the starting linebacker jobs are really that wide open at USC, but i think that we really have to look at the starting linebackers two years down the road instead of next year. Notre Dame really filled up on LBs last season, but SC has filled up on linebackers every season. We currently only have one linebacker in this class, im pretty sure SC has more than one, but not positive. And Galippo will be holding it down at Sc whatever linebacker position he wants for the next 2-3 years IMO....never really thought smith would be that good at SC, he seemed really undersized coming out of HS.

Reps for the article. We wont be finding out his college intentions until signing day it seems. This guy must like some of the attention if he is waiting that long, seems to be really hectic recruiting this kid.

I don't think it's the attention, I think he is genuinely trying to make up his mind. He seems like a very earnest soul...I really like what I have heard so far.

I like our chances now more than before...it's amazing how far Weis has gotten with this kid.

His parents are very sharp, they see the big picture for sure.

Yeah, Manti is not Terrelle Pryor... no attention needed.
