He has the hottest name being mentioned on every Notre Dame site but why would he become our next coach?

Lets not think of him as our "savior" we never have and never will be desperate for a coach or player.

It's been 2 bad seasons but lets not conflict our values set in us by our Championship history just because we've had 2 bad seasons.

2 bad seasons? Perhaps you should look back 14 years and see how its been.

Well according to some sites, Notre Dame is Urbans "Dream Job" and he did coach under Holtz. Many say that he is getting bored at Florida because there is no challenge to him to be a coach. They blowout everyone and I admitt, yes it would be great and wonderful, but I would get bored out of my mind. He doesnt have to recruit out of Florida, players flock to the Gators and thats why they are always on top because the state of Florida is talent riched. Just like Texas and California.

It sounds to me that Urban wants a challenge and he would get that if he came to ND. No doubt in my mind that he would turn this program around in one year and it would be like night and day compared to Weis' coaching career here.

He's getting bored?
Is it just me or didn't they go 9-4 last season.

How do you get bored from winning?
That is the dumbest excuse I've ever heard for a coach to leave a program and who is that many who is saying this about Urban, they have got to be Georgia fans who just want Meyer to leave the SEC.

I guess Pete Carroll must feel bored living in LA and dominanting the recruiting scene in the West and winning 6 straight Pac 10 titles.Maybe he'll come coach us for a challenge.

Pete Carrol is different because hes a poodle. Urban Meyer is a competitor in every sense of the word, and if u didnt have a challenge, u would get bored in my opinion. plus his wife said he left his heart at Notre Dame, Notre Dame is his "dream job" and he only went to flordia because he knew our admissions office are pricks and he could stay close to his family at Flordia.....news flash, most of his children are moved out of the house. I dont think Meyer backers should keep having to regive the same reasons why he would want to come here, especially to people who have no want for Notre Dame to get him. stupidity.

Boy, too bad he was never offered the job in 2004 and had the chance to follow his dream!!!

Oh wait...

Oh wait.....he put his family before his dreams. Wow we should just disregard a family guy because thats not what Notre Dame stands for at all.

He also asked for things he could not get:
JUCOs
Players that admissions would not accept
etc.

Once it was clear he would have to play by harder rules AND he would have to rebuild the ND team...he bailed.

His wife did not want to live in South Bend. Great for her...but you know what, they moved from fucking Utah. His wife wanted warm weather. Fine, let him stay down there.

He pissed on his dream job. He does not want to do things the ND way. Fine, fuck him.

No he refused to piss on his family...... why would any coach want to come to Notre DAme in 2004 when the wouldnt give him what is needed to win CHAMPIONSHIPS? Willingham left the program just 2 years away from being at the BOTTOM of college football. Oh and the admissions wouldnt let him rebuild the program anyway, because of their unreasonable standards. So his family would be critisized, his reputation as a good coach would get ruined, so he left Notre Dame to do things the great "ND way". That has really payed off for hasnt it. Way to drop the F-word for emphasis by the way, it really helped. He is doing in Flordia now what he could have been doing here if our college wasnt so stubborn. Admit our mistakes, see if he is interested again, if not, we are just as screwed as before we talked to him.

Ummm, we have had 3 top recruiting classes since Weis came aboard...or maybe you missed that?

Apparently, Urban did not feel that he could succeed in recruiting at ND and he was unwilling to build a program. His wife still would hate South Bend. He clearly has lax standards on discipline and academics.

You said that he's doing in Florida what he could not do here due to our standards? Interesting that you like to ignore reality. Urban could have come here, recruited like a mad man, and won...with standards. Now, if he did not want to work for it, then he would have failed like Ty Willingham.

This is the guy you want coming to ND?

Damn, your standards are pretty low.

I'd be ecstatic to have Urban Meyer come to Notre Dame. Anyone should be. If you aren't, then I submit there must be a few things you are clinging to:

1. That it's still 1950 and everyone loves the Notre Dame head coaching job.

2. That the college football landscape hasn't changed.

3. That Urban Meyer isn't one of the best coaches in college football.

4. That Notre Dame still needs to cling to some ridiculously "holier than thou" attitude regarding it's sports teams and university profile. News Flash: Every team wants to win at all costs, every team wants to win the NC, every team will do what it takes to put fans in the stands...their team in a high paying bowl...and money in the coffers. To think, and say, that Notre Dame won't because they are Notre Dame is naive at best.

Urban Meyer is exactly the type of high profile, creative, youthful, energetic, championship caliber head coach we need. To suggest otherwise is just plain ludicrous.

He has one daughter that just went to college. His other daughter is 15 and his son is 10. Unless he's signing their emancipations, they haven't moved out of the house.

Shit. Might as well settle for NCs at other schools.

And i will post it in one more so everyone gets a read.....info on all coaching candidates, including number 1 in the odds category, URBAN FREAKING MEYER!!!!!

FOX Sports on MSN - COLLEGE FOOTBALL - Meyer, Holtz could be next candidates for Irish

That was interesting. Of course I don't ever believe a word that comes from a source that works for Fox or its subsidiaries.

I did find it interesting, however, that all of those articles talked about Dayne Crist. They didn't mention Clausen. I guess that their opinion of JC is out the window as well.

Alright well if you dont believe fox would you believe naples flordia or scout.com article posted after it?

David Moulton: Urban Meyer is obvious answer to Notre Dame's problems : Local : Naples Daily News

I did read that article earlier. I think it's pure speculation and I haven't a heard a peep from Urban Meyer, not even the usual "It's a great school but I'm not interested" line. The question becomes: Is Urban not saying anything because he's not going to dignify the rumors or is it because he can't say anything....yet.

I'm not pinning my hopes on him. But who knows?

I hate to agree, but those articles are only speculation. No new factual information there.

I will say that I wouldn't be completely surprised if he came here. Nothing surprises me anymore in football. Saban came out and said he wasn't leaving the Dolphins; where is he at now? Look at the move Dick Rod made. Honestly, at this point, I think his family will end up making the decision.

Here is why you cant hear a peep from Urban until 8 days from now actually....the same day the AD meets with Weis.....interesting. Its in Urbans contract that he cant talk to other schools during the regular football season, which would end next saturday. Link below.

Notre Dame waiting for Urban window? | Truth&Rumors | FanNation

Thanks for the reads. It could very well be that ND isn't going to meet with Charlie until next Monday because they want to talk to UM on Saturday and Sunday. Of course it could mean nothing.

Too many recruits already spilling the beans that they have been assured that Weis will be here next year.

Assured by who?

Of course Weis would say that because he *probably* doesn't know his fate, yet. What else would he say? He has to plan on being here because he may very well be here. He may not be here either.

How the hell can the same site that bad mouthed Urban Myer for a year all of the sudden be in love with the guy? I believe the phrase "Urban Liar" orginated on this site. Him as our coach makes me want to puke!!! The class that is ND goes right out the window!

You can have your "class", I'll take "wins." I know everyone is all about doing it the "ND way" but when push comes to shove, it's about wins, not how many people we graduate. YOU CAN NOT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS. 1988 yes, 2008 no

Without the "class" and the "ND way" Notre Dame is just another football factory!! We can have both...it is just a fine balance! I think that is were CW is having his issues. I would hate to see ND sellout for wins!!!!

how is going for and paying the best coach possible to bring ND back to the national stage selling out?

if ND were to lower their academic standards and allow those players that get accepted to usc, uf, georgia, lsu, etc. to come in those hallowed doors just to get another NC.....that would be selling out.

did you even see the interview of the usc linebackers after the game (maualuga & cushing)? braindead barbarians. is that what you want playing at ND?
