I'm going to flip out if I come across another Urban Meyer thread on a ND site, theres an average of 3 on the 1st page of every site.
So here's a list of 6 candidates who could realistically be Charlie's replacement at Notre Dame
Brian Kelly
Overview:He's more of the flavor of the week in terms of coaching but hes ready to get out of Cincinatti before a poor season next year keeps him there for awhile.Kelly won 120 games and 2 National Championships at Grand Valley State and has a solid recruiting base in the midwest.Kelly plans to interview for the Washington HC job next week.
Skip Holtz
Overview:He is Lou Holtz's son and he is a former Notre Dame grad and assistant during the early 90's before becoming HC at Uconn.Skip has had success at East Carolina but he hasn't proved enough long term to be a legit must-have coach in college football.Notre Dame may or may not be interested but certainly his name will be mentioned.
Philip Fulmer
Overview:If anyone knows of UT football you know that Fulmer is a proven winner but after a few lukewarm seasons they had to make a change giving him $6 Million in the process.Fulmer hasn't retired from coaching and does have interest in coaching soon if not next season.A way to replace Weis would be to replace him with a coach who shows more class and is more proven than Weis at the college football level.
Chris Peterson
Overview
eterson is currently the HC at Boise State and has led them to 2 undefeated regular seasons in the past 3 seasons but reports out of Boise are that he and his family are settled in at Boise and he's not looking to leave. If Notre Dame showed interest he would certainly show interest back but the track record of former Boise State coaches hasn't been impressive with Dan Hawkins as a clear example.
Les Miles
Overview:4 months ago it would be a shock to see Les Miles on this list and after he turned down the Michigan job it would seem as if Miles would be in Baton Rouge for the long haul.Well times have changed and his seat has been warm for the past few years at LSU espescially with the handling of Ryan Perrilloux and his frequency to lose an easy win but cooled after the NC victory. At 7-5 his seat is hot as ever and he might be looking to bolt.
Brian Polian
Overview:Has been Notre Dame's key recruiter and special teams coach for the past few seasons but at 33 does he have enough experience to take over as HC at such a young age?Polian might just be our version of Lane Kiffin without the NFL HC job,but Polian would be a major risk.
