So I am pretty sure that after my year of being on here I probably have not provided one noteworthy post, or tried, but here is my first attempt.

Dear Irish Nation,

I understand everyone is upset with the product on the field this year, but without sounding too much like Dick Rod, get a life!!! It's pathetic how everyone is taking it so seriously.

I'm not going to point out any of the positives or negatives, but if you can't see what Charlie has done to change this team around since his arrival, then you are simply blind or do not care to notice facts. He will get one more year, and this coach actually DESERVES one more year.

I use this forum to find recruiting info and goof off, but I am really upset by how seriously the posters on here take ND football, it's just a game. Maybe it's because so much in my life has been going on lately that I've realized this, but isn't it true? Maybe it's the internet generation where everyone feels like they have an opinion and voice it, and make accusations and predictions hoping that they become right just so they could point back to a post 5 months to say, "I told you so".

Well here is my prediction, Charlie Weis will never recruit a player that is not ND material, he will never jeopardize the integrity of ND, his football players will not be arrested for battery and assault only to be playing in the 3rd quarter of the next week because they need him. I have never been more proud to be a affiliated with ND football since Lou was coach, Charlie is an ND guy, he gets it. So everyone needs to just chill out.

Sincerely,

Weisweisbaby

He jeopardized the intergity of ND Football when we lost to the Orangeman. He may be one of the best recruiters in college football, but ND is not a job where you learn to become a head coach. I wish him all the luck againist USC, but if we get blown out..........

I'm mot upset with the product on the field. Bunch of pups showed that its not the size of the dog in the fight, but size of fight in dog. Maybe pup got tired toward the end.

Fatigue creates strength, because effort creates fatigue. We gonna be stronger soon enough.

Phoenix is rising.

Trust me.

If Notre Dame was going to keep Weis, they would have already come out saying he would be the coach for 2009. He's gone people.

I'm not really certain what constitutes "taking Notre Dame football too seriously" as I for one simply log on and express my opinions on the subjects because I care about the Irish Football team. I don't get upset or name call because after all, it's just a message board and ultimately what we say and do here has zero impact on what really happens with the ND football program. Emotion and passion for the team and the game leads people to find a constructive outlet to express how they feel...and luckily, thanks to the internet and Irish Envy we have a place to do that. Even with heated discussion, at least we aren't the $EC fans pulling guns out on each other and firing. So, I guess what I'm saying is, keep it in perspective that just because people post passionately on here about the Irish, it may not be because they don't "have a life" or are obsessed with all things South Bend related. It may just be the place where they can constructively say what they feel like getting off their chest with like minded fans. I know I'm the only Irish fan I know, so having this community is great because it's nice to discuss Irish football with others who know about it.

That having been said, Charlie sucks as a head football coach and as an offensive play caller at the college level. If you cannot see that, then you are the one who might need to take a second look. In all respects except recruiting, we are in no way better under Weis than we were under Davie or Willingham. Seriously. Willingham and Weis have very similar results in winning percentage, they both have blowout losses to USC, they both have no bowl wins, and they both had early success (proclaiming them the savior) and flagging results down the stretch. However, something we didn't have under Willingham or even Davie was a 3-9 season, a loss to Navy and a loss to an eight loss team. While we may have upgraded in the recruitment area, we've downgraded in the "minding the store" department. Those were some of the basic essentials to doing the job at Notre Dame and Charlie has screwed that up. For whatever positives he brings here on out, those are ugly factors that blot his resume and will never be claimed about Davie or Willingham.

The University needs to take this opportunity to fire Weis. Then, stop...take a deep breath...and resolve themselves to perform an exhaustive search for the next, and RIGHT, man to take the wheel of the ship and lead us back to the winds of fortune. Weis is not that man just as Willingham and Davie were not that man. All of these people, and even the short lived O'Leary hire, were merely pretenders to being a real, consistent college head football coach. Notre Dame is not the place to learn on the job...it should be a post occupied by a seasoned veteran of the college wars who knows all there is to know about winning. Sure, we would prefer not to have to compromise our standards for those results but in the end, I think we must find the man that can do both.

Interesting observation.

He knows he is under fire. Hopefully he is allowed to think long term by his boss. Like, one more year.

And then we can all go toilet paper his house, and call his wife and kids names.

Fantastic post!

I also agree that Weis is the man for the job! I really hope he gets another year because I really believe it turns around next year!

CW better get the team playing up to par, I love his recruiting, but he doesn't seem to have it at the moment as far as game performance.

[NAME REDACTED] is gone after we (once again) get humiliated by U$C.

Accept it. Embrace it. It's a step forward for the program.

Why people continue to waste their time typing out voluminous posts on message boards attempting to rationalize [NAME REDACTED]'s failures is beyond me.

He's gonna be outta here.

He's been weighed; he's been measured; and he's been found wanti......crap, the scale broke.

He's gone.

Nice post WWB. Honestly, I had pretty much tuned you out. I seriously got tired of all the Omar Hunter posts you splashed all over the place. But you have redeemed yourself.

I don't know if Weis will get things turned around, or if he's the right coach. I do know that he's done enough in some areas to warrant being given the 5th year which is so desired, and a chance to see your first class graduate. Don't give me Ty gone in 3, he violated his own contract when he was actively speaking with UDubb while still employed by ND. Weis isn't being a snake like Ty was. I've seen too many examples of coaches who should have been fired (according to the fans) only to become great coaches when given the chance. Some are in the hall of fame.

I have been getting crap all week by the haters as you'd expect. But suprisingly, it's not because we lost to the Cuse. It's been because of our horrible fan reaction to the loss, the snowball throwing, the idiots on the call in shows. It's been an embarrassing week to be a ND fan, and Weis had little to do with it for me. I think our fanbase is officially run of the mill now, and we're nothing special.

My daughter is applying to go there right now, but if she were a he, and being recruited for FB, I would seriously discourage him from playing at ND after seeing our fans last weekend. It's not just ND FB. I would do the same for UK basketball. Their fanbase is not realistic or rational, and there is nothing to gain by playing for fans like that. UK football, great fans. Basketball, ehh, not so much. Too much entitlement, like we have in football.

I just wonder, when did CW lose the ability to coach? He certainly impressed the hell out of me the first two years. What is the hold up now? So we had two good first two seasons. We got rolled up in the bowl games. (BCS bowl games) Anyone can get rolled up and made to look like they dont belong. Ask Texas Tech. I just cant figure out what it is. Coaching or a process of maturing. Or no talent.

Massive can of already dissected puppy nostrils, but in this case, I am leaning toward a process of maturing.
