Who do you want to be ND's new coach?

My short list for coaches are the following. I'd be happy if Notre Dame hired any of them to replace this joke of a coach we have now.

Urban Meyer (HC Flordia)- I know he's hated by a lot of fans, but right now he's the 2nd best coach in college football. He's a proven winner in college football, and is a great recruiter (although he is a slimy bastard when it comes to that. Keeping things short, he gets results.

Brian Kelly (HC Cincinnati)- This guy is class, turned Central Michigan into the power of the MAC, and now has Cincinnati the power of the Big East. He's another proven winner and will have his teams ready to play Saturday.

Steve Sarkisian (OC USC)- Good Recruiter (especially in Cali), would help Notre Dame keep their big Cali recruits from this year (Cierre and Shaq). Has had good offenses with USC and is young which for recruits some to love. Furthermore, imagine how big the USC-Notre Dame game would be if ND had USC's ex offense coordinator beating up on them.

Mike Riley (HC Oregon State) - Does really well with the talent he has at Oregon State, and his most important aspect he offers, HE KNOWS HOW TO BEAT USC.

Name some others who you guys thing would be good for the IRISH,

Chris Peterson or Kyle Wittingham. Consistent winners with inferior talent.

I'd hire Lou Holtz to help recruit.

I cant believe im saying this, but midwestguy, I agree with you. I dont know about hiring Holtz, but I would like either one of those coaches that you mentioned, and I also think Brian Kelly would be a good pick. They are all young, have experience, and are hungry to prove themselves.

I hate Urban Meyer, but if we could get him, I think we would win a championship within 2-3 years, so, welcome home Urban.

Hell, while we are wishing why not wish for the best. Stoops, Carroll, Meyer, Saban. Pile the cash up and watch em turn it down. They aint coming. Also, why would an up and comer want to go to ND and commit coaching suicide? Look at the last 4 coaches (yes even our beloved Lou got the message) they all got run out on a rail. I dont know what it is but it sure is a bummer.

Chris Peterson i wouldn't mind getting. I'm also a big University on Utah fan but I would never want to see a former BYU player or coach(Sarkisian and Wittingham) on the sidelines for ND.

You're right about the "rail" and coaching suicide. The administration and the Board of Trustees have made a mess of things since Lou left. Now, they have to straighten the mess out, and it is no small matter. You can't just fire a coach without having another already in place, and we need a coach with college head coaching experience. Is money and the ND name enough anymore? ND has the talent (albeit, thanks to Charlie), but ND needs a coach to develop it, NOW!

Just sign me "Sad and Disgusted."

Mike Leach or Bob Stoops (doubt we get him). Would love to see what Leach could do with all of our offensive talent.

Bill Cower, BYU's Mendenhall, Bob Stoops. Watching Oklahoma last night was like watching a PRO team, ND sadly is not even close under weis. I believe a good sound coach will eliminate this fraud we are currently watching.

You need to understand the power of both money and ego. Boise State could never pay Petersen what he would earn at ND. He's also never going to win a NC at Boise St. no matter how many times they go undefeated. An undefeated ND team is in the NC picture.

Lane Kiffin has no balls, he'd be the same as Charlie. Keep him away, Sarkisian also better than Kiffin so if you want someone from SC it should be him.

How about nobody from the NFL? Unless they coached for the Jets at some point and sucked there.

Corwin Brown? HAHA had to say it.

Anways,

I think ND should also look at Coach Jags from BC, look at what he's doing with those players he has them playing way above their talent level.

How about Tim Brewster, great recruiter, and look what happened last time we took a coach from Minnesota.

The BC coach is actually not a bad call.

Well we already know he can lose a big game. By a record margin. Leach aint the answer. He may be a good OC.

Norman Dale. Yeah, I know he was a basketball coach, but I think he could make the transition to football. His practices aren't meant for your enjoyment!

LOL! Good shit.

As for your other comment about money and power, not everyone is wired that way, especially guys from smaller towns. USC tried it with Belotti (Oregon) and others, and were turned down. I mean, Carroll was their 4th or 5th choice! And look at them now. Mark Few won't leave Gonzaga because he loves the style of life, just like Belotti.

Some guys are just plain scared. ND is THE hardest coaching job in sports. I mean, we suck and we are still getting run and pub on ESPN on the daily. And if you are just OK, you're going to be villified for it. That weighs on people's minds. Not everyone, but some guys I'm sure.

And then there's the damn restrictions. Look at Meyer. He had his dream job in his hands, and he said no to go to Florida, where he can get any kid he wants. Think about that historically. Florida over ND, his dream job??? But look at him now. A NC and a possibility of another. Sad but true...

Bob Stoops or Urban Meyer

Enough said...

I hate to say it, but if we want a NC, this is the way to go. Throw more money at them than Alabama threw at Saban. Anything less says ND doesn't care about winning; they want to remain the class of the NCAA and a second rate football team....which is OK if that's what you want to do. But, at least admit which direction your program is heading.

Anyone remember when an 8 win season was a disappointment? It's pathetic that we'd be happy to be there right now.

I'd love Stoops, but he won't come here. F Meyer imo.

Bob Stoops? Is that the guy that lost to Boise State a few years back? You guys would have fired him then, too.

Let me ask this. How much do you offer and what do you expect for the money?

we honestly don't have the luxury of saying F Meyer anymore. If he would be willing to come here we have to do everything in our power to get him. I don't like what has happened in regards to recruiting either but ND needs a change to a proven winner. He still claims ND to be his dream job. The talent level here is night and day in comparison to what was here in 2004 the last time we discussed the head coaching job with him. Swarbrick at least needs to inquire.
