USC to Holiday Bowl?

Interesting scenario:

"There is a remote chance this year that Missouri could win the Big 12 title and two one-loss schools from the Big 12 South could end up No. 1 and No. 2 in the BCS standings. So what gives? "There would be three [Big 12] teams in that case," BCS spokesman Bill Hancock confirmed Wednesday. In this scenario, one-loss USC could get knocked all the way to the Holiday Bowl if Oregon State earns the Rose Bowl bid. USC, at 11-1, figured to be a lock for an at-large berth, which would earn an additional $4.5 million for the Pacific 10 Conference. But those plans could change if the Big 12 ended up with three of the 10 BCS slots. The Big 12 would then have two of the four available at-large bids, and a non-BCS school figures to earn another with a top-12 finish. That would leave only one at-large spot left."

I'm not sure if that's correct. I thought there was a rule that no conference can have more than 2 teams in BCS bowls?

Yah that is a rule. However since Missouri would qualify for the Big12 Champion spot, the next best Big12 team would get an at-large and of course 1 vs 2 is automatic. Luckily Missouri will get blown up in the Big12 Championship.

Like it or not, the winner of the Florida - Alabama game will be in the NC game so this remote chance is more like no chance.

Alabama could lose to Auburn, or Florida could lose to FSU to make it interesting but I doubt that both of them lose leading up to the SEC championship game.

Yeah, I wish Auburn could beat them, but they have been such a mess that even in a rivalry game they stand little chance. Florida is really rolling, so I see them having no problem w/ FSU, and then Florida will expose Alabama to get in to the BCS title game (god I hate saying that!!!)...

Well I could see Alabama losing. I think they are treading a fine line. But Florida losing is not going to happen, and I think Florida hands Saban his ass in the championship game. Florida would probably leapfrog Texas, unless of course the pollsters keep Texas ahead on the strength of each of their respective losses.

In the end it makes no sense anyways because if Missouri beats TT then TT would fall a good ways in the rankings. Leaving a 1 loss UT and a 1 loss OU, with only one getting the draw.

Don't forget TT plays OU this weekend. If OU wins, there is a 3 way tie for 1st in the Big 12 South. I don't now how the tie breakers work there. If TT wins, then OU has 2 losses so they're done.

Whichever 1 loss team doesn't go to the Big 12 championship is the team that could play for a NC if Mizzou wins. Personally, if Mizzou wins the Big 12 Championship game, I think the Big 12 may not have anyone in the NC game.

In the end, my money is on Big 12 Champ vs. SEC Champ for the NC game. Florida vs. UT/TTU or OU (however that plays out).

Tie would be determined by highest BCS standing. In that regard I think UT is 3 and OU 5. So UT would play Missouri for the Big12 marbles, and if wins would head to the NC game. Where I think Florida will beat Alabama, and head to the NC game.

With that info to go on, my pick for the National Championship.....

If TTU beats OU, its Florida vs. TTU for the NC game

If OU beats TTU, its Florida vs. UT for the NC game -- My actual pick for what's going to happen.
