I guess it comes down to this, I love the passion you guys have in regards to our competition but I just can't share your enthusiasm after the last 15 years...
I personally feel ND has been on the edge of falling from the top 25 programs in the country (not in the polls but a year to year overall average) for maybe the first time since Rock took over the program... I also have felt for a very long time now that the majority of fans here look at ND as one moment away from 1988... so I understand the divide...
I am a huge die hard fan but also a realist. Sorry stating objectively that you don't think our boys have a good shot against another team if that statement is objective does not diminish fandom one bit... in fact I respect that fan a little more than the one who claims a national title awatis the end of every season
until we take certain baby steps most of the pundits are right about us... we must start recruiting the five star
defensive studs... we must get more competitive when we play top ten teams and we must start winning bowl games...
in regards to the last there are obviously two schools of thought
1.) rush head long into the most difficult game avilible until we finally win just as we have been doing for 15 plus years
2.) Hope the stars align one year and the best bowl we can get is a bowl we are actually favored in, take care of buisness and end one of the darkest marks attached to ND currently
both views are understandable depending on the light I suppose
Steve thinks I'm a pansey, I think he's blind
we're both ND fans and no matter what bowl we do or don't get into we'll be cheering for ND together I'm sure
