I was glad to see many 2nd and 3rd teamers getting some playing time towards the end of the game. While I was glad to see Jonas Gray do so well, I was actually less concerned with him and the other skill positions getting into the mix.

My bigger concern with playing experience is next year's OL and DL.

ND's website lists the players who came in and got time during the Washington game as:

RUFFER
GRAY G
LEONIS
HERRING
BLANTON
SHARPLEY
WEST
GALLUP
GORDON
GRAY J
PASKORZ
HUGHES
ALDRIDGE
BROOKS
ANELLO
CRUM
SMITH S,
WASHINGTON
SCHWAPP
FILER
QUINN
SMITH T
RICHARDSON
BEMENDERFER
DEVER
ROBINSON
PARRIS
MULLEN
BROWN J
WILLIAMS I

Interesting, Fleming actual started at the jack linebacker spot in place of Crum, and Sergio Brown at the Will linebacker spot. I don't recall if the first defensive play was the nickel pkg, but that would explain Brown playing in what would be the Will linebacker spot.

We should be fine on the D line???...

As for the O line, there is still time (Syracuse and Navy,.... though my dream would be to put in all our reserves on offense next week against pitt late in the fourth quarter, run THEIR offense with the practice squad and shove it right down their ass for our sixth touchdown... all whilst Mark May shits himself)

My concern on the Dline is it's still young. Here is our depth next year:
Seniors
53 Morrice Richardson DE Jr.
93 Paddy Mullen DE Jr.
Juniors
91 Emeka Nwankwo DE
95 Ian Williams DT
Sophmores
9 Ethan Johnson DE
98 Sean Cwynar DE
79 Hafis Williams DT
89 Kapron Lewis-Moore DE
99 Brandon Newman DT
Freshman
Tyler Stockon DT
?????????

The guys playing there now just aren't the elite bruisers we need to get penetration or occupy lineman so that the backer can get through on blitzes. In order for the younger guys to get to that level, they'll need experience.

For example, Kerry Neal is playing out of position, IMO. they really need to move him back to OLB with his hand off the ground. Ethan Johnson really should be on the end, not inside. He's just a better player out there.

If Ian Williams, Hafis Williams and Brandon Newman can all become strong enough to play inside on rotation, that allows them to use EJ, Cwynar, and KLM at their proper positions as the ends.

I hope Mullen or Nwanko can really step up next year as the senior leaders. Mo Richardson moved to DE from OLB, but i don't recall if he was able to put on enough weight to be effective against giant OTs.

As for OL, next year we have:

Seniors
72 Paul Duncan OT (may have 5th year medical redshirt availability)
51 Dan Wenger C
74 Sam Young OT
59 Chris Stewart OG
55 Eric Olsen OG
Juniors
70 Matt Romine OT
75 Taylor Dever OT
76 Andrew Nuss OG
Sophmore
78 Trevor Robinson OG
73 Lane Clelland OT
52 Braxston Cave C
57 Mike Golic C
Freshman
Alex Bullard OG
Zach Martin OT
??????

Next year they will have 4 returning starters with Young, Stewart, Wegner and Olsen. But they need to continue building the 2-deep experience and depth so that they could literally have a 2nd team OL go in there and not be too much of a drop-off.

Wade was also in there on the last drive.

We did start out in an interesting formation. I think Fleming was actually on the line and Harrison Smith was in the other linebacker spot, ending Crum's 43 game starting streak... although listening to his interview afterwards, he didn't care and was just happy with the team playing well.

und.com almost always misses people who played though. but as far as depth on the line, all but Turk should be back next year on offense, and defense... we have some big bodies getting redshirted and several others with a lot of potential. I am more worried about defense than offense.
