It appears with the departure of Jackson that the staff felt they had another scholarship spot to offer this year.

While Christian Kuntz might feel slighted (he told reporters CW said they weren't handing out any additional WR offers this year) it appears the status quo changed. If Jackson had stayed with the team, I doubt the staff would be using another scholarship offer for the 2009 class. Plus, he's being recruited as an athlete with WR one possible position for him to play.

Any chance he would play in the secondary? I notice Scout has him listed as a Safety.

Following the Michigan game and recruiting weekend extravaganza, it appears ND has moved to the top of Oliver's list with Wake Forest and Tennessee. Recall however that recruits rarely (note i didn't say never) recommit to the same school once they decommit.

He has a visit to Wake Forest scheduled at the end of the month, and a visit to TN in the works. He says once those visits are over he will decide.

Found this tidbit...

Oliver's best 100 meter time is 10.6 seconds.

Given our lack of wr's in this class i really want this kid. Plus anyone who has offers from the SEC is good enough for me!

thanks for the info. remember to put a link if you're going to quote an article, and the article needs to be free. if you just summarize then a link isn't necessary.

Per his high school, commited last night.

Nyshier Oliver, '09, star running back and defensive back on the Prep football team, has chosen to attend Notre Dame next year, one of the many colleges and universities that offered him scholarships. His decision follows many weeks of speculation in the world of college football that began when Oliver chose to reconsider his original commitment to the University of Tennessee.

Following is a statement from Coach Rich Hansen:

"As you may recall, Nyshier Oliver chose to reconsider his initial college scholarship commitment to the University of Tennessee. Since then he has taken several 'official' and 'unofficial' visits to other scholarship option schools. It is a pleasure for me to announce that last night I spoke with Head Coach and New Jersey native Charlie Weiss and committed Nyshier to the University of Notre Dame. I want to thank all who have supported Nyshier throughout his academic and athletic career at Prep. It is a great choice and proper fit for him. I now look forward to Nyshier finishing out his time at Prep in great fashion, performing on the field and in the classroom, fulfilling all of our expectations."

My sentiments as well. Earn a great education, play some amazing football, and enjoy your 4 years. While there are many other great football experiences out there, nothing quite rivals the serenity and spirituality of our amazing campus. Go Irish!

i watched his film and he looks really fast.
I can't wait until he gets here. It is a dimension
of true speed notre dame has not had for a while.
This is a great pickup.

Go Irish.

Golden Tate and Floyd are extremely fast. But i agree the addition of speedy WRs is always nice.

I have not read Floyd's 40-time or anything, but have you seen the separation he creates between him and defenders? He certainly appears to have the 'football speed,' a la a Jerry Rice, who from what I recall was not necessarily a burner.

Floyd might not be the fastest, but like the pp said, he creates separation and makes killer adjustments to the ball, even for a frosh.

They lost that Nunes QB as well to Stanford. Harbaugh is pulling in a monster class. My feeling is that Fulmer is going to get the boot after this season.

Just checked out Stanford's class. Wow he's doing an outstanding job. Good to see the Stanfords and Dukes doing better than their norm in recruiting...
