After last year it looked like there was no hope and they could not even compete. However, being from Hoboken, NJ and my brother had coached Kamara so Charlie did stop down to the high school during recruiting. Charlie did say they would be better this year but actually 2009 they would be a force. I have to say I believe him. The emergence of Claussen, Hughes, Floyd and Tate all Sophs make you think we will be tough next year. Although, with the sked I see this team no worse than 8-4 or possibly 9-3 this year.

honestly exactly how I felt to begin the year.... I thought they would look better than they did against sdsu and um... but then I expected them to get crushed at msu and they played much better than I expected... so with this season who the hell knows??? they one game we play well we get beat by two bascially three scores... lol

All I want to see is some growth and a FREAKIN BOWL WIN

Last year was some of the worst football I have ever seen. Every play I expected a sack or run for loss. This year we can move the ball in the air and on the ground. We have some playmakers. Our D is exciting and gets after the QB. Last year our D played well till the 2nd half where they were completely gassed and about to pass out so we got killed. 8-9 wins should be expected and getting a BOWL WIN. That was the goal in the beginning and still stands.

I see tons of progress too, and like you, my goal was to see 8-9 wins and a bowl win. And like you said, it still stands.

But on your 2 other points, ummm, we cannot run the ball at all. It was painfully obvious last game. I believe we have the backs, now we need the damn holes. And we haven't even sniffed the QB in the first 3 games it seems. Our D-line needs to get better at attacking the QB, 'cause our blitzes get picked up way too easily. We're trying to get after the QB, just not very successfully.

I think we are exactly where a lot of us predicted we would be...

Re: Purdue, UNC...

You know what the real Perceptions are? It's not about the players.

The unstated and perhaps unintended subtext is that Joe Tiller and Butch Davis have proven that they can coach and win with the talent they've got. And Charlie hasn't.

Remember the old Bum Phillips observation (I think Phillips, maybe Bryant), "He can take his'n and beat your'n and he can take your'n and beat his'n.

I hate to say this, but if I weren't an ND fan, I wouldn't pick the Purdue players over the ND players on Saturday. But I would pick Joe Tiller over Charlie to win.
