Skip Holtz Background:

Walk On WR Notre Dame

OC Notre Dame- last time we won a bowl game

Head Coach Uconn- Turned a losing progran into a winner and help them get into D1

OC- South Carolina Helped turned a 1-11 team into a bowl team

ECU- Turned them from the Butt Pirates into the Talk of the College Football World

So what has Skip done? A lot.

I am not sayin hire the guy, but he has a great resume and probably will be coaching Clemson or South Carolina next year is my guess.

I sure hope Charlie works out, but there is something about Skip's charisma and his dad is definitely 100% Irish Loyal, maybe he goes to Clemson or South Carolina then is successful yet again, then Notre Dame,,,,,,,

Walk On WR Notre Dame

OC Notre Dame- last time we won a bowl game

Head Coach Uconn- Turned a losing progran into a winner and help them get into D1 34-23 over five seasons is good, but not great.

OC- South Carolina Helped turned a 1-11 team into a bowl team Yeah, but then went 5-7 the next two consecutive seasons before being demoted to quarterbacks coach and, ultimately, not retained by Spurrier.

ECU- Turned them from the Butt Pirates into the Talk of the College Football World At 2-0?

So what has Skip done? A lot. That is debatable.

I am not sayin hire the guy, but he has a great resume and probably will be coaching Clemson or South Carolina next year is my guess.

I just don't see it yet. Let's save the coronation until at least the end of the season.

Seems to be an upward trend in his coaching...but he will not be the coach of ND next year, but is probably oneof best young coaches in college football.

Alhough my name suggests otherwise, and I'm not necessarily blaming this on Weis, and i feel like ive been watching San Diego states Offense all day, i think i want Skip Holtz as our coach. Obviously my opinion is strongly based off this first half and that ridiculous pic in the end zone, but the boy Skip is getting the job done down in ECU. That game isnt over yet either but ECU looks strong.

Fair weather band wagon "fan"

Pick another team to root for that will never have a bad half and show them your loyalty. Don't need you here.

IF Notre Dame replaces Charlie, which I hope they do well and they don't. But lets face it, if he fails this year, he probably will go. ND needs to do like Bama and OPEN the pocketbook. Bama sent a message, they wanted Saban and would pay, last time we hired a coach, we didn't exactly show the money.

You guys have no perspective, nor do you make any sense. Look up what Fan means- it does not say throw the coach out after 1 loss. You are a bandwagonner and a fair weather fan who wants the new model he just saw drive by. Sack up, let the season play out and i am very thankful we have adults with some common sense in charge of the ND athletics and Administration who don't believe like you do that if ND doesn't win a set amount of games Charlie and staff are gone.

ECU- Turned them from the Butt Pirates into the Talk of the College Football World At 2-0? I guess you forgot about last year and a bowl victory - I didn't forget. But 7-5 regular season with losses to a 5-7 NC State team and a 3-9 Marshall? I will give you the fact he got a bowl victory. Other than that, it is nothing to write home about.

So what has Skip done? A lot. That is debatable.

I know you are not saying hire the guy, but he is getting all this buzz for winning two games this year after a somewhat above average season last year. If he runs the table this year and gets to a good bowl and wins, I will entertain more praise for him. But if he loses to anyone else on the schedule he has, I will not be sold on him. I cannot understand how others here are annointing this guy as the next savior of our program essentially based on two games. It just doesn't add up to me, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Damn...kinda harsh on the guy, aren't ya Grizz?

no. I have read this crap from a minority of fans on 3 sites over the last few days and they make me sick.

i do not mind people complaining on how poorly we played. Nor do i care that people are dissappointed at where they think we are compared to where they expected us to be. But asking for a new coach after 1 game with all the last 7 years history (10 + yrs when you throw in Davies) is a recipe for disaster for another 3-4 years.

I believe that when a coach gets hired, he should be given 5 yrs to prove himself. I know there are exceptions to all these rules and Ty only had 3 years. I cannot do anything about the past. But I believe CW is on the right track, that next year will be better and this year is the bridging year.

We were 3-9 last year. Why do people unrealistically believe we will be 9-3 this year? And if you believe we should be 9-3, then at least wait until we hit the 4th loss before you start to bury the coach and staff!!!

I am with you on this one Grizz! Even though I was one who believed (and still adamantly, though maybe blindly believe) we will go 10-2 or better this year, I do not blame the coach and staff. We are 1-0! Who cares that the first week was not the offensive juggernaut or defensive blitzkrieg we were hoping for - we got the win! And now for all these people to be calling for a coaching change is just pathetic! CW is on the right track. We have some great talent already on campus and more on the way.

Great points! Go Irish!!!

I sincerely hope Charlie proves me wrong and becomes the next legendary Irish coach, and someday gets a statue next to Lou's. That will remain to be seen and can only be told by time. My argument still remains sound to me. We are Notre Dame...one of the top five most legendary college football teams in the history of the sport. I believe we deserve one of the top five best football coaches in the country and we currently, based on FACT, do not have that. That was my point in it's entirety.

Yeah, I was gone for most of the week and didn't read that thread until 1- it was closed and 2-you were banned.

mick, I was definately feeling you on you sentiments, just differ with your style (alittle) although yesterday on 2 sites I probably came close to getting warned to tone my retoric down.
