Cal Poly was a trap game for SDSU...they had Irish on their minds since the spring. They don't care about beating a DIAA school. As their coach said this is a "map game" for them...with a win over ND they would gain recognition..ND has been their focus that's a guarantee!

You could also make a case that this is a trap game for the Irish, Michigan next week, 38-0 to avenge. It is sad that it has taken 3 quarters to snap out of it and start playing some football.

As far as Aldridge, I am getting the transfer feeling. I hope NOT, but I have a feeling.

I think we'll have to find out what our teams are really like later in the season. As for now, good luck to you all on hopefully a properous year!

If that helps you sleep better tonight, then go with it. I just think we aren't that good.

Refs bailed us out. I think he crossed the plane and ground caused fumble.
My power went out for about 10 seconds just as the ref was about to announce the decision.....luckily my UPS rode right through it keeping the 60" plasma, Directv receiver and stereo cranking. My internet still isn't working but at least I can get on with the laptop verizon card the company gives us to use! :)

so, I'm really behind on the thread!

As to the call.....make up for screwing us earlier on the Hughes fumble. I don't feel bad about it at all.

Well, I must say that it was fun sharing this painful victory with you all. Let's say a little prayer for the Michigan game next.

I wish I was feeling a little better...but this is the worst team in the MWC. They suck.

It's time to put last year behind us (Finally). For the first time in at least a good few years ND opens against a team one has to figure we have no shot at losing to. With that said this may be the most telling game about our Irish in some time.

4 keys to look for

1.) Complete Domination of the line of scrimmage while on offense. If we struggle up front on offense even a little bit it may be a pretty good sign that things are still not as they should be with the O line.

2.) If number one occurs what do our backs do in the open field? Something they had few opportunities to display last season was their ability down field and their outright play making ability. Does Allen have that true burst? Is Aldridge a legit five star back?? and so on

3.) Can the youth make POSITIVE contributions throughout the game? A handful of mistakes from the key freshmen does not bode well for their talents to be shown much further early on in the season.

4.) Here's the big one in my opinion.... Can We Keep The Defensive Backfield Healthy!?!? If and when we lose a R. McNeil or a David Bruton we are in deep, deep trouble against teams like Purdue, USC and the like who like to throw downfield. Having a reasonably healthy secondary this year could be the real difference between The Gator Bowl and an early off season.

thoughts?

GO IRISH

Okay time to give some perspective....

1.) Big whiff... The O line is obviously still a work in progress

2.) eh... not so much Allen has now proven to me at least he is not a legit back... where the hell was Luke and James???

3.) Big plus... M. F. had a big play for the freshmen #9 super TE was in all day good showing... I like what I saw there

4.) Big positive, they played well... (When there were open WR's it was the play calling NOT the players) BIG Big PLUS THUS FAR

*****Perspective, we played poorly against an inferior opponent true, WE WON THE GAME we are five more wins away from a bowl game....

LISTEN UP!!!! WE WILL NOT COME CLOSE TO WINNING A TITLE OR BCS BOWL THIS YEAR!!!!

I have said this for months and have shook my head at many of the posts here about 10 win seasons and such.... we were 3-9 last year, deal with it. Again as I said before DO NOT buy the hype about 47-3 beatings against a team that has nothing to lose...

WE have a GREAT chance at winning 6-8 games this season period... again here is some perspective, Ohio St. BARELY won, West Virginia not only lost they got CRUSHED!!! BYU BARELY won and needed a terrible call to do so...this is obviously one of those saturdays where MOST favorites were tested........... look out tonight Florida???

we passed the test and are now undefeated....

congrats to our boys....

GO IRISH beat the skunkbears, it is do-able.... get the O line in order!!!!!!!!!!!!
