I am curious how these two kids are looking in camp. I truly think both will make an immediate impact from game 1 of their freshman years. I do not expect either to start as freshman but definitly to play minutes and make the two deep.

Robinson has been getting alot of praise from Latina, such that he's worked himself into a 2nd team guard spot, and has been filling in for Chris Stewart who is recovering from a minor concussion.

I think Stewart can be an all-american but Robinson might be first guard behind both stewart and olsen the next couple of seasons.

What about Braxton Cave also. He looks physically ready to get some PT.

many freshman are reportedly looking good, but as CW said in his initial press conf, the depth is being built back up such that most of these guys are starting out no better than 3rd team. that's not a knock on the incoming freshman, it's a positive sign for recruiting and retention of quality players.

there are a number of freshman that could see playing time in back-up roles.

I love this freshmen class. For the most part, they seem to be what we were hoping for so far. I can't wait to see what they do on the field and the early contributions some of them make this fall. Go Irish!

I think Robinson and Floyd are at least 2 freshmen and probably ethan johnson who are at least on the two deep already.

There has been nothing but praises of Trevor Robinson and Floyd from all reporters and coaches, as for Ethan it looks like he is dominated the 3rd string and will be moved up soon.

Stewart was injured this week and Trevor filled the role amazingly, YOUR MY BOY BLUE!!!

Yeah, T-rob was working with 1st unit while Stewart is getting healthy, but he won't win the spot from Chris this year. Best bet for Trevor is to see playing time in mop up, but he's a very good option to have if someone does get injured (hope not), and will be a force to reckon with in the next 3 years

Yeah, my favorite quote by Charlie Weis about fall practice so far has been about Brian Smith though, "This kid has the potential to be something special", that is HUGE... I love this kid, and to think we almost didn't get him because we didn't offer!

Michael Floyd=Michael Crabtree of last year

As good as that sounds I do not see that happening. Crabtree runs in one of the most pass happy Offenses in the nation. Floyd will be good but will not have the same opportunity Crabtree had. I will settle for Floyd=Benn

I know i am biased but from watching all the videos from the sights i think the entire freshman class is going to be special. I know chances are they won't but really all these guys look beyond their years.

Trevor Robinson just looks like a beast. He looks massive! Of the freshman, Michael Floyd will probably get the most pub, but it sounds like RJ Blanton will see the field a bunch this year. I would love to see Nate Montana get in to some games in mop up and complete some passes - just for the nostalgia factor.

i didnt mean he would have the same stats, but the same impact. If you put Floyd in that offense he would be better than crabtree

By the time that Montana would get in to play this year (after JC and Sharpley are done) I would think that it would be to the point of either a hand-off to a 3rd string RB and/or take a knee in order to just run the clock out.

I disagree, Weis has been known to actually have the mop up QB run the offense, mostly run, but Wolke did have a couple throws as back up for Quinn. I say Montana goes 2/3 this year.

You are probably right, but I would still love to see the name Montana in the box score the next day.

We haven't had the luxury of putting a game away early for way too long.
